So I was driving to the front gate earlier tonight on my lunch break. A turbo'd dodge neon pulled behind me on the way there. At the gate we have a light...and he pulled up next to me. We had a little pissing contest, and the light turned green. Put the pedal all the way down and fricken roared down the road and beat him to the next light, 3/4mi away. =D My 30yr old, 4WD, 3/4 ton truck beat out a fancy arse neon. yay. haha.

Good lord I hope you beat him. Dodge Neons... I hate those things.

Finally got rid of the annoying tick. Fucking rocker arms were looser than hell. Grrr. Now it sounds so purty...all skeet skeet like. Next up- new cam and lifters and headers as well as a new header gasket. Then...and only then, will I attempt to make it smog legal. O_O

Eww. That's gonna be a job all in itself..

I found out that if I draw the plans and make the measurements for the long travel suspension, that my uncle will make all the of the parts I need, besides the differential and CV axles. AWESOME. I'm super stoked. I also scrapped the idea of putting in the same engine in the car and putting a 4.3 vortec engine with the 4L60E automatic transmission and a Toyota gear driven transfer case. Someone already did the measurements and found out that it is the same length as my current engine/tranny/T/case combo.

Anybody here ever wanted to compete in some off road racing like the Baja 1000?

I'd kill to compete in the Baja 1000. Any Baja, really.

I'm going to start out with the Baja 250 and work my way up. I really want to do the Dakar (which is now not in Africa...but still). If I was staying here in Vegas, I'd continue to build up my truck for desert racing (since most of it is all ready done, just needs mo mods).

The Dakar would be amazing, but there's two problems with anybody from North America competing. One, the insane cost (It's something like $20,000 just to enter the race and get your vehicle there). Two, all the really amazing Dakar race vehicles (Kamaz and MAN trucks, the Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi diesel SUVs, Land Rover Defenders, stuff like that) are nearly impossible to get in North America.

I want to buy a Jeep Cherokee. My plans are to put a 4-6.5 inch lift on it with 33x10.5 bfg mud terrain km2's

Any advice?

Get one with the I6, the V4 is garbage. Do your lift right, you'll need a long arm lift to do it properly.

Has anyone seen the new Ford Raptor? I can honestly say it is my favorite ford, and I dislike fords in general.

If I could get a Raptor with their new Scorpion diesel, I would spend the rest of my days walking around with a raging erection and be able to die happy. As it stands, it's pretty awesome, but it needs a diesel.

Then again, I think everything, up to and including Segways, needs a diesel, so I may be a little biased.

(My opinion of buying an 'efficient, utilitarian SUV' is importing a '95 Land Cruiser 80 with the 4.2L diesel engine from Japan. Hey, I can get one without a spec of rust, 60,000 KM and paint and interior as shiny as it was when it rolled off the factory floor, for less then $20,000 shipped to my door and completely checked and certified by a licensed importer. 28 MPG, solid axels, huge cargo capacity and plenty of passenger space-sign me up!)

Actually, I'm thinking of postponing the KIA build and buying a Honda TRX 250R...

Oh, I know price would be outrageous...I checked it months ago. I'd be happy just to be a navigator. (Some of my buddies ask me for directions instead of using their GPS. I can look at a map and take a tour of a town once and remember for a long long time).

I drooled all over one at one of the ford dealers down the road.

At my nearest dealership, the mechanic or whoever backed their only Raptor into a stone wall on the first day.
