Hey everyone, I was looking at maybe getting the new zero kick hammer from techt, http://www.techtpain...kickhammer.html

My question, to all you ballers that have went with lighter internals before, is how will this effect my air efficiency? Will I use less or more air if I get this upgrade? I tried "logicing" (yes I know this is not a word) it out for myself and now my head hurts . I may still not purchase this upgrade, but I want to know the facts anyway. Thanx.

You are supposed to use less air when having lighter internals, because it takes less air to push said internals faster. If you had a heavier internal, it would need more air to get that bolt moving. It shouldn't make too much of a difference in efficiency, unless your bolt is much heavier then the zero kick.

I speculate that it will have minimal to no effect on efficiency.

It won't effect air efficiency. The A5's valve is basically a dump chamber. Straight from tank to valve. The poppet will still open just as much to allow the same amount of air into the power tube. The velocity screw only restricts air going into the barrel. So the rest of the air must escape through the cyclone port or the rear of the valve.

Now if you were to put a regulator on the A5 then I'm sure you might not need as much air and can reduce the amount of air going into the valve. Or maybe with the new bolt a softer spring can be used thus decreasing time the valve is open and saving air.

As far as the TechT site propoganda says:

WAY Less Kick!

Because the Zero Kick Hammer weighs less than the stock bolt, it moves back and forth slightly quicker inside the gun. This movement is typically referred to a marker's mechanical dwell. This means it takes less time from the instant you pull the trigger to the time your ball hits it's target. This means your opponent will have less time to avoid your oncoming ball. This equates to more kills and more kills means more wins. Who doesn't like to win more?"

I've never felt the "clunky, kickin' like karate, hand numbing, operation" in my X-7. Other than possible higher rates in fire I don't see a point. But my gun weighs like 8 lbs., so maybe if you had a light tippmann it would kick more and you could use this upgrade.

I've let people try out an A5 that I have with this hammer and a stock A5, and everyone has agreed that there is a noticable reduction in kick, although I don't see why this would be necessary to a recreational player. I'd definitely put this in the "try it out first if you can" category.
