it'd be pretty cool to see some of the vehicles the old school GI Joe episodes had.

the Cobra tanks were insanely stupid build but hey looked cool (to a point) and they had things like dune buggys and jeeps that were loaded up pretty significantly. it even appears that there were powered suits but i don't remember them.

anyway....

you get the idea.

there's more here if you are interested in looking: 20 stupidest GI Joe vehicles defined by some blogger... isn't fantasy fun!?

since tanks are such high maintenance and add a completely different element to woodsball/scenarioball, i wouldnt see any problem with adding a thread devoted to tanks.

Well i suppose I'll get the ball rolling with a picture of our team's tank. She made her debut at the West Point Spring Combat Classic '09.

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I post a picture here I find the thread specifically for tank pictures. I apologize for the thread jacking.

In July of 2007 we built a caster wheeled PUG. (Info here). This served us well but was limited in its capacity to level fields with a hard playing surface. About a month ago we acquired a golf cart and the modifications began. When originally constructed it was designed with a wooden frame that the caster wheels were attached to which was bolted to a shell of 2x4's and plywood. The shell's dimensions were that to eventually fit over a golf cart. This made the transition relatively simple in basically swapping out the PUG frame for the golfcart frame. A few modifications had to be made the shell for attachment points and to allow for wheel clearance but nothing major. The basics of the whole project were completed in 18 hours over the course of a weekend team project with the detail work done by 2 people over the course of a week a few hours a day after work.

Changes include:
-2003 ClubCar 48V Electric Golfcart Frame
-Turret moved towards the back
-Viewports added to the sides and front
-Turret reworked for both function and aesthetics on the new frame
-Hatches and "forward viewing shields" added to increase visibility

Our first game was a scenario in TAW scenario "Mech Wars" put on in Oroville CA (40 min north of Sacramento). Tank rules were the first rocket/satchels striking anywhere on the tank disabled it (Couldnĺt drive) after which we would raise a yellow flag. The turret could still rotate and fire. We were disabled until either an engineer walked/ran/crawled around us 5 times to repair us, or we were struck by a second rocket/satchel and eliminated (red flag raised). When moving players had to keep a 20 ft radial distance from us but when we stopped they could come up to us to talk, pull equipment out of our side containers, but could not use us as a bunker at any point in time. The tank performed beyond expectations. By day 2 they changed the rules so that the first rocked eliminated the tank. Even with all that driving around the carts batteries never dipped below 30% or their capacity.

Enjoy the pics :

i think we're more likely to get what we desire if we keep talking about the object.

i was teasing my land lord a while ago about taking this old van he's was trying to sell and converting it to a tank.

about a week or so ago he gave it too me to do just that.

i'll be dropping 2 swing ring turrets on it and a split hatch in the roof for a mortar or two.

it'll be pimp!

development is down the road a bit... my field needs to be up to snuff first...

Well, since our tank has seen some updates, it's time for new photos from its latest event - Splat Tag's Giant Big Game on June 6th.

Improvements include better ventilation (allowing for cooling of the tank crew), reinforced armor in weak areas (all old weak points for getting paint in the tank are sealed), and a true 360* rotating turret (prior to this year, the tank had a lesser arc caused by remote lines getting caught, no longer).

And it advances into the Urban portion of the field...

Thalion,

That was so sweet when the tank rolled into the Urban field and took out the tower of blue guys and the remaining ones left!

MidWest Alliance FTW! :D
