...you can always take some petroleum jelly and rub the inside of the barrel with it....this will prevent the paint from sticking to the inside of your barrel and will wash out easily.

When it's in, adjust it to fit tightly against the barrel's inner walls.
Paint away.

use a wood dowel and stuff the foam rollers in until it fills the length of the barrel. Make sure one of the foam rollers
are just to the tip off the barrel end. TAPE OFF THE breach/threaded end completely!!! NICE & CLEAN paint job every time.
Another way is a wood dowel with paper towels tightly wrapped around it. Tape down the end of the paper towels.
push the dowel through the barrel until the paper towel is covering the inside of barrel completely.
If you apply the paint in thin coats, there will be no concerns about clogging up any of the port holes.
