Okay so feel free to point it out but yes I feel like a tool responding to my own post directly after my own reply, but anyway, I think I've decided on a DP G3, I've read a lot of reviews, watched reviews and :P videos on YouTube, and read reviews on PBnation as well as checked out prices on a few sites, and for $300 I don't think I can go wrong. Considering I've already put more than that into my A5 with no real satisfaction thus far it's a fairly easy decision, especially considering I'll be able to compete on the speedball field without a disadvantage of a Tippmann. I've seen speedball markers and honestly been intimidated, thought of my A5 as being an easy to maintain and repair alternative, however this has proven to be ignorance on my part, yes it's easy to work on but the G3 is very, very simple with 6 O-rings, and 2 moving parts and just one screw to access everything you need to for repair/maintenance. Plus I do believe a marker weighing less than 2 pounds would be very nice in a long woodsball game since I won't have to lug around the A5 with all of the mods on it.

It's a hard decision to make though, I've invested quite a bit of $ into this A5, but to get everything I want for it I have to invest quite a bit more, 35 for the top rail I want, 55 for the reticle sight, 65 for the airthrough mag, 55 for the remote line, when for only $100 more than that I could have a G3, and I've already put a few hundred into the A5 already, this is no fun :dodgy:

Before you buy a G3, if you are worried if you will like it or not, next time you are out playing, ask someone who has one if you can shoot a pod of your own paint through the gun so you can get a feel for it.

About the only thing I can think that you MAY not like about the G3 is the the trigger. Best thing to do there is to get a TBO trigger if you do not like the stock one. However it does not bother me at all, just some people.

A5 ( used would be alot cheaper)

with :

squishy paddles

"APE board". It Blows away W.A.S board in so many ways.
Insane battery life. Never have to turn it on or off, ever. True full auto mode (dont have to ramp) . All these things will make ya feel like its mechanical full auto your useing.

There are a couple small pieces you'll need to buy to convert the mechanical grip to the e grip though.
I would say forget the new barrel, regulator, stock, and all that other stuff. I have nothin against the flatline really though if your into it.

Thats if your gonna go A5. But if your intent on spending $600 then get one of the recommended speedball guns.

Mini= $330
Used Etek ~ $400

No matter how much money you put into a Tippmann, it's STILL a Tippmann, and will never match up to the performance of a quality speedball marker, built for the purpose of playing paintball, not looking cool walking through the woods.

A couple of years ago I picked up an Air Gun Designs Tac-One. Since then my A-5 with all the upgrades and modifications has been collecting dust.

Try one out. You will not be disappointed.

Pwnt :)

Just for the record-My tippmann has never had a single issue. Ever. My buddies speedball markers are constantly sending them to the paintball shop to spend more money. So I'm not sure what this issue is with the quality, but from what I've seen it'd be a step down for the tippmann to meet the quality of a speedball marker.

Sounds like your friends dont know how to oil markers. User error ≠ bad quality.

What i've found with speeball markers is that unless you know what your doing, your going to completely BOINK it up when you try to fix it. Once you understand how your marker works however, they're just as reliable, if not more than, a tippmann.

Two words, one name. Bob Long.
Top quality guns, best customer service in the game, and they're pretty cheap now.
You can get a Marq 6 or 7 (Not the year, just the model) for $350.

Oiling is not the reason they kept having issues. We're military that work with air tools. We know about keeping weapons oiled along with any tool that has moving parts....

Personally, I think the issue was that they bought used markers that might have had prior problems. That and their markers didn't seem to like the brush for some reason.

They understood thier markers though, so that wasn't the issue. They just had markers with issues. Hell, one of the guys used to play on a speedball team and everything. Still had his red suit too. Still don't know how that guy was able to hide in the woods wearing a complete red outfit. :(

I highly suggest looking at all the other markers out there. I get wanting to have an awesome woodsball/mil-sim machine. But what happens if eventually you want to try speedball? It's a bit of a chore to play on an X-ball field with a mil-sim A5. The G3 is a great marker, and Dangerous Power in general is a great company. Look at all your options, look at reviews, and look at what you want to get out of a marker. Then make your decision.
