I got a really great deal on a used A-5. It has upgraded JCS cyclone rachet and a JCS power tube and bolt. I had the o-rings changed out and my pro shop put a X-7 valve in it. Here is my problem....... The JCS power tube took away the side allen screw volocity adjustment and the only adjustment is the rear volocity adj. The pro shop said the rear spring was too short and put in a regular one. I cannot adjust the volcity below 320fps. If I cut the spring down will that get me under 300??

You sure you have the advice of your pro shop correct?

Why would they tell you that the spring was too short, and ti put in a regular one if your velocity is too high? You would want a shorter spring so there is less tension.

You can cut the coils on the spring, but small amounts only. 1/2 a coil at a time. Usually, a little can be a lot.

How high are you able to get your velocity to go?

I think he meant they changed the spring out, and NOW it's too high.

And yes, cutting the spring will lower your velocity. However, I would suggest a Madmann or Trinity spring kit, and put in one of the weaker springs. Cutting springs is problematic later on, as you break in the spring tension.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Yes, it was shooting fine and when they rebuilt it he said the rear spring was too long and just assumed that it needed to be replaced and that is what created this problem. He doesn't have the spring anymore:) The gun shoots great. It can really rattle out the paint but if you can't adjust the fps under the 300fps limit then I can't paly:(

I will look for the spring kits. This is the first A-5 I have had. I have a 98c and it is a lot different.

I just ordered a BT Spring Kit that comes with 5 springs for different tensions. They said that was what I needed to fix the problem.

ANother easy way to do it would be to leave the gun cocked for a few days. I have not needed to do that myself but I've heard it works.
