I'll give you $100 for one of those straps, cause they're super rare and AGG :D
But no seriously I've been wanting to get one of those forever and either can't find them, or can't find them for a sane amount of money.

Well then I guess I shouldn't tell you that I have 3 then...2 for my Whips and one for my daughter's Invision. I had to rig the Invision though, it serves as a double strap. The original strap is still good and I refused to cut it off...so I simply edged the Celtic in so you see that instead of the Dye strap. The Dye holds it on her head and the Celtic is just 'there'....

...and no, I'm not selling them...lol.

I can see both sides of this discussion. Obviously, someone has encountered an issue with paintball masks staying in position, or you wouldn't see so many masks equipped with chinstraps. My mask has a chinstrap, and it doesn't bother me. At this point, it's optional for me to use it. It's a relatively cheap and practical safety feature. Do the benefits outweigh the disadvantages?

However, on the other side of the discussion is the possibility that yet another rule, policy, guideline, law, etc., may have been birthed by the ever-present Chicken Little society. How many laws or rules have we seen written and enacted on the basis of very isolated, very unique, or relatively speaking, rare events or circumstances? Strong emotional reactions or situations seem to be the motivational basis for many laws these days, and little research or fact based analysis is conducted before someone drafts a law that will be applied to everyone, yet from a relative perspective, impact a proportionately insignificant number of the population. How great is the problem, and should we let common sense and personal freedom decide, or do we need to force everyone to abide by the minority's opinion?

Maybe duct-taping a mask onto the wearer's head should be a mandatory safety procedure? People would be less likely to remove their mask, and accidental dislodging would be all but eliminated. How much attention to safety is enough? How many people's eyes are being put out because their mask has slipped off? How many masks are slipping off? What happens when someone wearing a chin strap gets hung on a tree branch while playing woodsball? Before we go off these Don Quixote style crusades, people should really make a better effort at quantifying the problem, so that more than opinion, emotions, and personal agendas are the basis for a decision that has the potential to impact everyone.

Haha, it's all good. I wouldn't sell if I had them either.

I was talking to some teammates about this today, because one of them always wears the chinstrap on his Grill. I asked him why and a big lengthy discussion started. He said 'It makes me feel safer', but other than that, there's no reason, so I had him take it off and play a game or two. He never put it back on. He dives harder and more often than I do, but his mask never budged.
My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

I cut the chinstrap off my proto FS. I never used it, I personally hate chinstraps on anything. I don't keep my bike helmet strap snugged onto my chin, I keep it tight enough so it won't slip off my chin. The helmet stays on with the adjustable back thingy. I just feel like a tight strap is choking me a little.

As for my PB mask, there is no way even 5 paintballs at once could knock it off. Maybe I just wear it really tight, sometimes I get a little headache by the end of the day. Maybe MAGneto's version of simple physics says that people do a backflip and fly backwards through a window when they get shot with a gun.

Don't believe me? Put the back of your paintball marker up against the lens or other part of your mask while on your head and fire. we all know that the force exerted by a paintball is very weak, if that was false we would have recoil problems with any kind of gun design.

Remember Newtons law #3? Duh. It's simple physics. :D

I knew this site had a very bad reputation, but it was not until recently I understood why. People here make pbners look intelligent, and evolved. :D

The only 'bad reputation' this site has is from mental midgets trying to make themselves out to be some kind of savior. If we needed saving....we certainly wouldn't ask it from President Oba.......I mean you.

Over 20 years bud and this face only suffers what time has dealt it.

My 3 daughters would disagree. Go back to Nation where you can mingle with the rest of the bottom dwellers...

Then I took him down, handcuffed him and dragged his miserable behind (with the help of 2 refs) back to the proshop and waited for the PD.

Am i missing something, do you always carry handcuffs on the paintball field ?

lol! I thought the same thing.

I don't wear a chin strap and I'm fine...plus most fields don't let you use anything but semi anyway.

yet another example of some guy who refuses to give up on his opinion. Its too bad that it seems that this person couldnt see that he was speaking to people who might know what they are talking about.

To the topic at hand...
No i dont think chinstraps should be necesary, i have played both with and without, I havent seen a difference, and in both instances I have been shot in the goggs multiple times and have not have my mask move. To my thinking (not exactly sure which branch of science backs this up) But to knock a tightly strapped mask of someones head you would need a force pushing Upwards on the bottom of the mask. A straight shot would only push the mask tighter on your face. Granted having only had 2 and a quarter years of High school So far, this may be incorrect.
