...see? that RIGHT THERE, THAT's why flamethrowers need to be allowed in private hands.

Either that or 55-gallon drums of raid. One or the other, but I think the flamethrower would be more fun.

Hahaha... Use the raid as the flamethrower :D

Holy crap, that's one huge spider. That freaks me out more than the camel spiders in Iraq.

I'm one of those who will pick up a wolf spider the size of my palm for fun, and that thing honestly scares me.

if you are refering to the email of that big spider that was circulating the net about a year ago, well thats fake, someone photchopped two together

We need to get aussiebloke in here for this one. I've been to Aus many times and have many loved ones over there. For the most part... the idea behind the spiders in Aus is... the smaller the deadlier... never heard of this... I don't know much about this 'publication' but my vote is fake. I base this on very little however.

not always smaller is deadlier....have a look at the trap door spiders, funnel web spiders,....the exception is the red back, they will kill small children and pets, i got biten by one a while back and just puffed up for 24hrs but hey it went away.

but hey i got bitten by a Tralanchula in Malaysia and rode my bike home then told my folks before headin off to hospital

Wait...was that spider eating a BIRD?!

Hell NO.

welcome to the land down under....a country where 8 of 10 most dangerous snakes in the world resides!!

where earthworms grow in excess of 10 feet long

cute n cuddly kangaroos will kick and slash people up

where magpie bird bomb dive people during mating season, two weeks back a little girl lost her eye from one

Wombats get hit by cars and known to cause extensive damage to the car, ie ripping the diff out, with the wombat getting up and walking off

:D HAHAHA! LOL so much, I think I peed a little on that one!!!!

Australia has the biggest baddest things that will kill you 10 ways to Sunday if you're not careful. Snakes, Spiders, Jellyfish, Sharks, all kinds of stuff. Those pics are CREEPY.

The country needs to repeal the long-gun ban there and let some folks with shotguns, and hunting rifles thin the spider herd a little...

All future spider nightmares had by anyone shall henceforth be blamed on Druid!

usually shooting the native wildlife will end you up in jail, as they are some of the worlds most unique creatures, and if you shoot a red belly black snake or a brown snake it will turn and come after you, they are very very very aggressive snakes!! they will outrun a human no matter how fast you think you are!!

besides if a country of 20 million can survive without being killed off then there isnt a need to go around blasting everything with a gun, some might say those that did are making up for lack of courage!

i should ban you for that!! then again it would be funny seeing you scream like a lil girl then end up in hospital

I'm referring to the pictures my friend (that served in Iraq) sent me. Including the legs they're the size of a medium-ish plate. And he said they can run darn fast.

I saw the e-mail that was circulating, these pics weren't from that one. They (the real ones) were about half the size of the fake ones, but still real.

google Giant Bird Eating Tarantula. They grow to the size of a dinner plate and eat birds out of thier nests. Giant spiders. icky. *shivers* Used to see pics of em all the time when i perused reptile sites. As most sites that stock reptiles, stock 100's of varieties of invertabrates (spiders, scorpions, beetles and so forth). There are some beautiful looking spiders out there...but i'll be damned if you catch me within 5 miles of em.

I would be away from it.

50 meters away. just far enough to be a challenging shot without being beyond the realm of my capability.

Hate spiders. Anything else, I could care less. But spiders? nuh-uh. those I treat with "extreme disfavor" to mis quote something.

EDIT: maybe 150 meters...it IS a heck of a big spider

i was also reading the other day about this octopus the size of a golf ball that has enought poison in one gland to kill 10 men! it has these little blue rings on it that glow when it feels threatened, the glowing is the poison becoming active and fertile or something like that. the poison itself are stored in little sacks in the rings. morale: stay away from the octisacks!!!!
