"Marketing hype in paintball?! The nerve of some people. After all, we paintballers would never throw our hard earned cash into the magic box of marketing hype."

Just go out there and play paintball. If you want to consider yourself a Sabre, the more power too you. But to the people on the other side, you are just someone on the other team. Go out there, have fun, and play paintball.

Also, I think some of you folks are missing the point. People don't classify themselves by a position to limit their gameplay style, they do it because it's part of the fun in figuring out your paintball mindset, identity and natural abilities. You classify yourself by how you already predominantly play. You don't adjust your play style to fit the classification.
I've seen a few of these posts saying "don't classify yourself, just play" and I have to respond by saying that if people are playing, they're not worried about classification. Nobody hits the field chanting "I'm a Sabre. I'm a Sabre. I'm a Sabre" to themselves. They only talk about classification when they're on forums, talking with their friends, and thinking about paintball in general. It's part of the fun of the off-field hours. It keeps you juiced up and looking forward to the next day of play. Don't try to take that away. Encourage it.

However, you did do right by actually posting coherent thoughts rather than the typical necro-posts of, "yes", "no" or some other truly pointless crap.

Well, we're usually pretty good about not pulling out the search button. Generally speaking, unless it's a subject that's been beaten to death over and over or is in one of the "stickys"/FAQs nobody really mentions the search button, even if they've seen the subject before. I mean, it's paintball, and eventually you are going to cover every possible subject (well, outside of new products/fields/events, but you get my point).
Plus, sometimes the discussion can change with time. New products or tactics (or at least revisited ones) can often gain traction. For example, way back in the day some people tried to put out paintballs with stabilizing fins on them for better accuracy. They didn't really take off, and the idea went untested for a while. Then, Tiberius comes out with their "first strike" paintballs, which are basically the same idea in a new package. While they remain a novelty for now, they have turned up in more games and gained a lot more of a serious discussion than the last time the idea passed through.
