I've never been slowed down by having my Vest and remote. There is Truth to the fact that it's hard to change hands, but I do it with ease. It's preference. I have tried running on-gun-air and disliked it. I've *VERY* good luck with remote lines. I just replace my old one. I bought it three years ago.
Yes this is my goose. No, you cant have it.

remotes ups:
-lighter gun
-ability to add a stock or run stockless (mp5k style nothing like it!)

remotes downs:
-can get tangled
-adds weight to back
-apparantly hard to change hands***
-if lying down it can be painful

***Hasn't anyone played MGS4? I have and I learnt an awesome tactic, with your left hand form a peace sign, then place the barrel on it, now put the stock to your right shoulder. Now change shoulders, and sight it. Granted it takes some getting used to being a left shoulder man, but it doesn't take long. I can poke round corners with out switching hands and my remote line just follows the gun around like a dog on a leash.***

Forget vests - I have no love for them. So having said that.

1. I have never seen a 4+1 close to the quality or comfort of an Empire or Dye pack. Even NXe 3 or 4 pods are better quality than the NXe 4+1.

2. 4 full pods are heavy enough now add the weight to your back from the tank and the need for suspenders.

3. Comfort - 4+1 just are not as comfortable as many other packs.

4. Many 4+1's can't hold a 68/4500 tank with tank cover. Forget most peanut tanks.

So having said that you limit yourself in podpack selection with a remote.

I think it depends on what gun i am playing with. If I am using my A5 I like to run a remote to make the gun lighter. If I am playing with one of my Invert Minis I like to play with the tank on so my gun is free to move where ever i need it to. With the mini the gun is so light that it is about the same weight as my a5 with no tank.

As a dagger, having your air on gun makes it easier to move, switch sides, place it down, ect. With the remote, which I do have, you can still do all of that, but it just takes longer, and more time to get used to. I use a 4+1 pod pack with suspenders and I find it handy on long scenairios. But if I'm playin woodsball with 4vs4, I just go air on gun and hopper and go have fun.
Aim for anything that is visible, most of my shots are either leg, elbow or head... that is if you see me first.
