Defensive specialist new position
Posted 10 August 2008 - 09:44 PM
should be only taken up by an experienced player who knows a little bit about each position, especially commanding.
standard rifle, pack with storage capacity, grenade pouches, air and ammo. Maby even a side arm.
my e-mail is Spacecapes@aol.com let me know what you think, together we can get this position into the books!

It could be a sub-commander role, perhaps given to another player on the team. Not an actual commander, but someone the commander turns to for recommendations on setting up a defense.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

I, personally, am also not a fan of smoke grenades. In my opinion, they simply serve to stall the game. If I can't see you, and you can't see me, we can't eliminate each other, and the game has become pointless.

ok ive got a partial gear list for your run of the mill Defense Specialist,
First of all a gear rig that will allow for your pods, air, not to mention a pack for all the goodies you are going to need.
In the pack suggest,
sling shot, for lauching gernades in pairs.( One spotter, one slinger)
Xtra gernades both smoke and paint.
Camp shovel, for digging elbow holes, (while in prone position, allows your cross section to be minimized)
Deployable camo coverings, tarp like. ( for desguise)
Paper, Pen. ( for planning with your defenders)
high fire, distance, and reliability
suggest a-5/x7 with flatline
plenty of ammo
defense plays on stalling your opponets, giving your attackers more time to accomplish their mission. so let the smoke gernades fly.
Deploying ambush snipers
molding the area for defense with shovel, equipment, and stuff around the area.

Deploying ambush snipers - need I say more?
Molding the area with shovel, equipment, and stuff - Most commercial fields will frown on this, and it's illegal in national forest land. What's that leave? Private land?
Sorry, but I stick to my previous statement. Defense is a MISSION, not a position.

Newbies do that nonsense all the time & (as the field maintenance guy) it drives me nuts !!!
The guys that build the fields work damned hard on them, according to an overall plan.
Undermining that work is ... ummm ... lame, at best.
