Hey guys, welcome to the main mafia thread, this is where we plan our upcoming games, sign up for them, and since we have control of our front page again, to sign up as a future narrator. To sign up for a game is usually as simple as finding the list of the upcoming game, and adding your name. If you want to sign up to be a narrator in the future, just post up that you would like to do so, or PM me if you feel like you'd rather do that instead.
For all that are new to the game and could use a bit of help:
Flash guide to the different roles in mafia and a basic walkthrough - by no means complete or the final say. This is just a good place to start.
To all narrators and upcoming narrators who have a hard time finding a convenient way to randomly assign roles to players, this is mixer-upper is pretty helpfull:
Random Role Selector
Note to Narrators: be creative, be funny, be original. Don't just copy roles into games because someone else used them. If there's a trend of a non-essential role being in a game, do your best to break that trend and see how your game works without it. Not every game needs a massive amount of third-party roles (cultists, SKs, etc), and often the clutter just makes it more work for you, the narrator. Remember, it's your game, not someone else's. Leave your own mark on the games here, not a poor copy of someone else's. But above all, enjoy, because after all, it is a game. - The Bostinian

*These rules are subject to change depending on how the Narrator of a game chooses to change them*
RULES AND REGULATIONS :
Rules borrowed from mafiascum.net and previous game rules from this forum.
1.) The game will start once everybody has confirmed, in the game thread, they have received my PM.
2.) All votes must be in the following format: Vote: [insert player name] [Please use bold] Any votes not made in this format will not be counted. Exception will be made if you cannot bold your votes. If you want to change your vote, first Unvote: [insert player name] [Again, please use bold] then vote again in the above format.
3.) When a player receives a majority of votes to be lynched, they are dead--even if I haven't been on to announce his death and reveal that player's role. I'm trusting you, the players, to help me keep track of votes. I will check, of course, but it will help make my job easier.
4.) If discussion is lagging or the day is dragging, I may set a deadline. If I do not receive the necessary PM's within that time period, the game will move on into night with the night-actions I have already received enacted the following game day.
5.) Night posting is allowed, but please try to keep chatter game-related.
6.) Once dead, no posting, "Bah" posts included. You will be PM'd upon death, as soon as I get to the thread after a lynching.
7.) Try to post as often as possible. If something arises which prevents you from posting for a prolonged period of time, please inform me and I will find an replacement. Notify me in-thread if you want me to prod an inactive player.
8.) DO NOT quote anything I PM you. Role claiming (claiming to be a certain role) is fine, but you are not allowed to quote my PM's.
9.) Do not verbally abuse participants of this game at any point. Doing so will result in punishments up-to and including modkills.
10.) THERE WILL BE NO OUT-OF-THREAD COMMUNICATION, UNLESS I GIVE YOU EXPLICIT PERMISSION VIA PM. THIS INCLUDES THE OTHER MAFIA THREADS. I don't want to have to mod-kill you, so don't give me a reason to.
11.) Do not edit your posts. Just make any corrections in another post.
13.) Breaking any of these rules subjects you to any action I deem necessary.
14.) No Print+Screens to be shown in public.
15.) This is a game. Have fun!
16.) Dual-accounting gets you permanently banned from mafia games on this forum.
When you have received my PM, please verify you have received it by posting: "/confirm". After you confirm, DO NOT post in the thread again until I say the game can begin.
NOTES:
-There may or may not be other 3rd Party roles active in the game.
-If any participants PM you during the game, please let me know immediately. Roles which are permitted to send and accept PM's are exempt from this, of course.
-IF AT ANY TIME YOU QUESTIONS, THEN PM THE NARRATOR FIRST
-this is the narrator color. Please refrain from using red text in game.

@ New Mafia Players
This was spurred by some bickering in the latest game thread, but I think this should apply to all players, though especially to newer ones.
This game is meant to be nothing more than a very amusing, and at times quite epic, way to pass the time. At the end of the day, we're all friends here, and you can actually grow quite close to some players (as I have). So if you die early, have a powerless role, or get shafted by another player, don't despair and don't hold grudges. We've all been there, some times more often than we'd like. But that is what the next game is for, and the great thing about Mafia. You always have another chance at an exciting role, and pulling off the heist.
Stature in this game is based on respect, and you have to earn that respect. Earning respect from other players is quite easy; use proper grammar, obey the rules, and if you have suggestions to the narrator on gameplay, be constructive. Also, you must understand the essential factors of luck and skill in this game, and the difference between them. Luck is guessing that a player is Mafia with little or no evidence, and being correct. On the other hand, skill is inserting yourself into the heart of the action, finding out everything there is to know, killing your rivals, and never exposing yourself. Skill is verbally tripping an opponent up into compromising himself, or persuading other players to lynch your target. Skill is sowing uncertainty and fear among the players, so they doubt those they once were sure to be innocent. Skill is controlling the chaos, rather then being swept up in the flow of it.
Skill only comes with playing Mafia consistently, and building off of each performance. Eventually, skill guarantees a certain element of success, and that success is then complimented by luck. Building stature in Mafia takes time, as you learn the playing styles of each player, learn the roles, and learn to logically deduce the twists and turns of the game. Acting like "I'm all that" before your time is a sure way to annoy the experienced players, and make it more difficult to earn their respect.
