It could be simply the name of a product line. The term "specops" has been used for years before paintball markers were ever made, albeit far less frequently.

Take a look at the SP website (scrub eyes with bleach afterward if needed). There's nothing there labeled as Spec Ops.

Since we are on this topic, why do people hate Smart Parts so much? I took some time off from the forums when that happened (I think)

No worries. It's an easy mistake to make when the X7 is labeled the way it is.

Not to mention the clothing and vests now.

what I don't get is how there are to many spec ops things out there that are specifically spec ops that have tippmann instead. Like at dday, they had Tippmann Broadsword Vests and Dagger Vests instead of Spec Ops. and the same with the Fusions and such. I've seen a tippmann tag on the ultra-lights at Academy S&O's. Also with any search on Ebay you'll find far more of these things happening. I honestly believe that either Tippmann owns Spec Ops or they have a VERY large stake in the company.

Very large stake, plus an exclusive partnership and a distribution network. Works out well for both-saves Tippmann the R&R and development costs of putting out a clothing line, and gets SpecOps a well-known and respected name, plus one of paintball's biggest distro networks, attached to it.

I have been pretty disappointed in most of the paintball magazines that are out there. Every one has typos and researching errors. Very sad, no wonder why some thing the sport is a big joke.

naah.... no paintball publication is as ridiculous as APG. I'm yet to read an issue of APG that has no spelling, grammatical, or factual error in it...... or is about 2 years behind schedule on certain things.

....like when they did a "team profile" on some random team... and used a picture from 2002, when the team had different sponsors than it has now. Great job, APG.... great job.

APG = the worst professional publication I have ever seen.

Thats kinda pathetic if you ask me. Shouldn't a magazine at least research those type of things? Thats a mistake that shouldn't be made.

Now that I can check it, I'd have to concede. It was just a theory at the time, anyway. I couldn't check out Smart Parts' website when I posted that, because I don't have the flash player installed in my portable firefox at work, and my job's proxy server prevents me from getting it there.

Though, uh....which vest builder are you referring to? I may be blind, but I don't see one o SP's site.
This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My sig is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My sig, without me, is useless. Without my sig, I am useless. I must type my sig true. I must spell better than my enemy who is trying to judge me. I must type before he ridicules me. I WILL... My sig and I know that what counts in this forum is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the splatter we make. We know that it is the hits that count. WE WILL HIT... Before the Admins, I swear this creed. My sig and myself are the defenders of my forum. We are the masters of our enemy. WE ARE THE SAVIORS OF MY PROFILE. - Tippmann Owner #pi

Slow up hoss. Besides 2 off-hand comments nobody even paid attention to, nobody's been hating on SP, what with the topic having nothing to do with SP besides a misprint in a crappy magazine.
