So, what would a cross dominant shooter do to help? (ie: me)

what do you mean?

Aim is cross-eye dominant. He's right handed, but his left-eye is his primary eye. It's confusing I know, but my wife is the same, that made it incredibly difficult to teach her to shoot. She shoots rifle left-handed (but pistol right-handed).

OK. Joking aside, they make shooting glasses that are much more comfortable than a patch. Check brownell's shooting supplies. I am wearing a pair on page 3. But I have my left eye blinder up to inspect my reloaded ammo. When you are ready to aim, just flip the blinder down and Wha-Lah! The glasses are totally customizable on the fly for whatever the situation with parts interchangeable from left to right. The more options you have, the more expensive they can get, obviously. They can as much as $300, I think.

the problem with the glasses (im a target/self defense shooter) is that in the real world, you arent gonna have time to go grab your specialty glasses, and youre gonna want both eyes open- at least with a pistol and someone breaking into your house. same thing with glasses... i had prescription glasses but got rid of them- if i wake up in the middle of the night to a bad dude in my house, the last thing im pausing for is glasses (obviously this varies for those with poo for vision, but you get my point). i try to learn to work around every disability ive come across. does it make me a slightly less shot? probably. does it make me more capable to defent myself in an emergent situation? yes. is that why i have guns? yes and no. i wouldnt have one if it wasnt for defense, but i enjoy it too. part of the joy is striving to get better, and part of getting better is overcoming obstacles. if i was born perfect my life would be boring.

Ow. Now I'm feeling yesterday. Somehow the soreness in my shoulder from shooting moved into my trapezius (back of neck and shoulder blades).

Umm, sorry to bump, but I didn't want to start another thread for this question; what # shot should I use for trap and skeet? And lead or steel?

Out of my 12 gauge I like to shoot 7 1/2 or 8 shot for trap. Steel sucks. The only time to use steel is if you have to. Except for very very expensive steel loads, lead is better. It is more dense so a smaller shot size wieghs more than the same shot size in steel. Also lead is faster and it tends to have a better pattern than steel. I have used both lead and steel because you have to use steel to hunt waterfowl. Steel tends to be less lethel meaning more crippled birds.
I undestand why they use steel but I wish nontoxic alternatives were cheaper.

This is b/c your trap muscle has been tensed up for the last day or so to compensate for the soreness in your shoulder. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. My neck and trap was sore from sleeping on the couch (we're moving) and then I spent the day teaching defensive pistol to military personnel headed for Iraq (and one Marine heading for Embassy Guard school) and by the end of day I couldn't feel anything! OUCH!!

I think im going to buy a British SMLE next if i can find one in good shape. My goal is to try to get as many WWII weapons as the govt will allow. Ill just hide the rest.

My dream gun is the M1 Garand. I cant find one thats decent or worth more than my car.

Motoguy - have you checked the Civilian Marksmanship Program? Sometimes, M1's show up for a decent price. I haven't been checking for a while, but you might. Here's the M1 page.

The scope and scope mounts are expensive. You will also need to get the sniper bolt (curved handle). And the you will have to drill and tap the reciever to attach the scope mount.

Anyone know how to mount a Supercell Recoil pad? How do you take off the original? The SuperCell is a replacement, not a slip on.

I shoot skeet pretty regularly
I have a 12 Gauge Remington 1100 with a pistol grip with a snub nose barrel with a modified choke
Notice: I dont use that barrel when I shoot skeet lol

I need to ask yall a question though, in Texas you have to own 10 acres of land to shoot skeet legally, and we do, its just our neighbors wont let us do it because in our neighborhood "constitution" it says if another neighbor finds your shooting sport "unsatisfying" then they can tell you to stop. Basically they think its too loud....., (bull plop in my opinion, they live 3/4 of a mile away.....) Anywho, I was wondering if there is a special kind of shell that reduces sound? Maybe just a low-brass shell of somesort? Thanks in advance
