Too bad that if it ever did take off as even a semi-popular round the BATFE would go after it as a destructive device.

I think he'll be fine as long as it's just his one-of-one rifle.

I want one for pissing off the neighbors. And they're almost a mile away.

Apparently Kel-Tec's distributors are screwing them over. That or they're terrible businesspeople: http://www.thefirear...s-elusive-guns/

The banality of the BATFE: http://www.thefirear...other-nfa-hack/ <---That, you see, is a benign little pistol. In its original configuration, it is a dangerous ASSAULT WEAPON!

Kel Tec has always had available supply issues.

I don't know if it's bad distribution, bad planning, or unwillingness or inability to expand their production lines.

Well have my sigma, my Crossbreed holster(48$ off the seconds site and looks Brand New). Just need the LTCF and a heavier belt. So happy right now.

I had a deposit ($200) on the Kel-Tec 2000 (the folding rifle they make that takes Glock mags...) for a couple years (originally, through my Dad).
Just before Obama was elected (and some what foolishly buying in to the "Obama=NO GUNS EVER" idea" I moved the $200 in to an IO Inc. STG2003C (.223 AK style rifle).

It was $350 less than their cheapest AR, and I went to the .223 because all my friends had some .223 rifle at the time (except the STG absolutely LOVES Wolf ammo and my friends AR's hate Steel).

So... while it's a lovely gun to shoot and all, it's almost a collectable and I can't upgrade it like the AR platform (and I like playing with upgrades).

Also, tomorrow, we're doing a controlled burn with the local fire brigade on my friends over-grown field. 200 yards long :3. We used to use it for R/C cars and Speedball, but over the last couple years the small trees and weeds grew up. Now we want a long range shooting range.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.
We put our glass to the sky and lift up. And live tonight 'cause you can't take it with ya. So raise a pint for the people that aren't with us. And live tonight 'cause you can't take it with ya...

finally shot my sigma. that is a snappy gun, but nothing getting out to the range wont take care of. Now to get some HPs for it. Thinking get a box or two of the Z-max because 1.they are based on Hornady's TAP round so they are good 2.they are relatively cheap 3. they are just cool.

AR15 bits and bobs recommendations for everything besides the lower receiver. I'm not interested in anything 'match' or 'high end' I just want stuff that works for not a ton of money.

As long as it'll shoot 556, it'll work for what I'm building.

Annnnd GO! :) (thanks guys)

Unless you've done it before and/or been through a professional armorer's class, I strongly recommend buying a complete upper receiver and just building your lower how you see fit.

Spike's Tactical, CMMG, and BCM all make quality uppers in a proper 5.56 chambering. You can check with other companies, but make sure you know. A lot of AR companies use .223 chambers for improved accuracy results, which works fine when shooting .223. It becomes a problem when you run the higher pressure 5.56 NATO ammunition through your rifle.

I have heard unconfirmed rumors that DPMS just uses 5.56 chambering even when they claim it is .223, but I do not have proper validation of this fact.

DPMS and Rock River Arms both make lower parts kits that will fit your budget needs and get you what you need to put into your lower receiver without too much hassle. For stock options, make sure you know whether your tube is commercial or milspec (it does make a difference when it comes time to putting a stock onto the tube).

I like the A4 complete upper (the bottom one in the picture) with the gas block sight base and chrome lined barrel options.

Although...if that gas block can't take a bayonet I don't think I like it so much...

RRA is a good company. I want to pick up one of their Coyote models or the ATH Carbine.
