it seems that in this forum/subforum everyone is either a) giving one time use position ideas like tank buster or  complaining about the people that are coming up with the one time use position ideas like tank buster. now this could have been suggested before and I didn't see it, but instead of creating a bunch of semi-useless positions, why not group them into one and name it the "Specialist" position. the Specialist position does a number of things, from being a medic, to "bustin" tanks, to demolition, to whatever the game requires that the normal positions don't already do. if i get enough positive feedback i'll write up some info and rank requirements and whatnot and hopefully spec ops will approve

Not a bad idea.

I have to say I have become less and less of a fan of the spec ops position thing. It really does a horrible job separating players and dividing them. I focused on the whole position thing at first, and foung it was better to just ... play.

I should have read the whole thing before I posted. Sounds good to me although I really don't use the spec-ops brigade stuff.

I approve of the idea of just a specialist position. I've suggested it myself a while back. The big thing about the existing positions is that they're supposed to be applicable to any woodsball game, which most of the suggested positions are not (Or they're just plain retarded. Mostly retarded, actually). Lumping them into Specialist would let it still be applicable to any old woodsball game and let people log their time as an alternative position (Not that logged time counts for anything, but if it gets your rocks off, go nuts).

ok so seeing how this seems like a decent idea, what should the "weapon" name be? (by weapon name I mean how the medium rifleman=sabre, light rifleman=dagger, etc.......). i cant really think of anything but katana but thats cause i love katanas. i write up some of the fluff info and have it ready for you guys thursday or friday, then you guys can flame it all you want

as a sidenote i dont really follow the brigade positions, but it seems like alot of people on the forums do.

Just a idea.
Multiple Function = Specialist
Meaning that a true marker isn't his/her primary.

I really like this idea! I've never really liked the concept of paintball "positions", but the Specialist position seems like it would make the most sense; in fact, I think it would make a lot more sense than most of the other positions. :)

I agree with the original post. Unlike some of you are saying though some parts of the specops positions do hold some water but mostly I agree with them being a little silly. I think this would be an awesome position and I think that specops should go through with creating it.

Not bad, not bad at all, it is very simuilare to the HAMMER position in the aspect that it is usualy larger games that use those.

ok so here's what I got so far, let me know what you guys think:
"The <weapon name I haven't decided yet, i'll call it "wn" for now> is quite the versitile player. He blows stuff up, fixes things, and saves a player or two. The <wn> serves as the wingman to any player but is pivotal to the mission's success. Most players won't recognize half pf the <wn> gear, but it doesn't matter, the Specialist knows it and uses it well.

The Specialist may have one or a hundred jobs in a single game, and he/she knows how to do them all. One game the <wn> may serve as a medic while the next game he may be bustin' tanks. The Specialist is also an expert of setting traps with their arsenal of paint grenades and mines. The Specialist is a methodical thinker and works best with a small squad of riflemen by their side.

The <wn> gear is the most unique of all other positions. His/Her marker could be a fully-customized electro or just a stock a-5, the marker is based on the Specialist's comfort. The Specialist also carries an array of paint grenades and mines, and maybe some twine for tripwire and camo'd burlap to hide the traps. The <wn> may also carry exotic weapons like a "rocket" launcher or blowtorch depending on the game. Regardless of what the Specialist brings, they must move quickly BUT effectively, their lives are vital to the mission's success or failure. So when a tank rolls into battle or a man is down, you know who to call, the Specialist."

i dont have the basic, pro, elite, etc stuff yet. give me any feedback ya want and maybe this will go thru.
