Okay guys I'm thinking that eventually in the future I would like to pick up an etek. I just had some questions about the marker. First off, I believe the resently released the Etek2. Now it seems a little too expensive for me but I still wanted to know if the increased price was worth any increase in performance it may have. Now back to the Etek. Does this marker take general ego accessories or does it have it's own? Does it require a lot of maintainance? I would also like to know what would be some recommended upgrades for this marker. Any help ,personal opinion or experiences with this marker would be much appreciated.

so far as I know the only difference in eteks and egos is that they use slightly cheaper parts, and don't make it quite as good in general.

This doesn't make it bad, just different. The parts are interchangable from egos to eteks.

personal opinion. To be frank I could never get over how they are incredibly pimped out spyder. I have fired them, and they shoot very nicely (note I shot and ego SL-74) but never had to tear them down, but if its anything close to tearing down a spyder I would rather pluck all the hairs out of my armpits in defiance to working on one.

Nowhere near tearing down a Spyder. My friend's Etek is almost identical to my Cyborg in disassembly, and they aren't very Spyder-like to maintain.

the etek is about the equivalent of an 06 ego. I think its a well rounded gun with good efficiency and if you really need upgrades they would be a zick kit, cure bolt, and maybe a tadao board.

Spyders are easier to care for than Trices...

Regardless, poppets have more parts but theyre not as picky about bad orings and lube so theyre not as much of a PITA. Pull the pin and remove the bolt, and occasionally take out the ram. No biggie.

Personally though, I would rather get a Marq6+ or another inline (spollie/inline blowback) marker than an Etek because they dont feel right to me, but thats just me.

I recently bought an Etek2 and I'm more than happy with it all I've done to it is bought a zick kit and a cure bolt just because I like to spend money on stuff I don't need I can't think of anything about it I don't like.

I gotta reccomend the DP IQ/G3. Breakdown is as simple and easy as can be, as well as operation. Performance is flawless. It's also half the price of an ego.

the g3 is definately nice.....the etek isnt bad by any means, but for the price there are definately other options worth looking into..

Although I don't own an ego or etek, I know a few guys with eteks. Quiet frankly I think the etek is a bit heavy, especially when compared to a DP Fusion, or even some spyders (obviously the spyders won't stand up in performance). I just ordered my Fusion, hopefully I can do a review when I recieve it.

Look into a used 05 ego. You can get them pretty cheap with upgrades. I've heard it's one of the best shooting egos. I've heard a lot of good things about the DP g3 too though.

Etek is a lower performance ego, no way around it. to make an etek2 close to an ego in performace you would need, Star frame, QEV, zikk, at least. For that kinda cash you could go buy a used Ego7.

Not sure what your price range is but, a used 06 Cyborg will go for around the $400-500 range and, unless you're cursed like Z3R0, the maintenance on them consists of changing the battery and doing a lube job once a year.
