I personally have never had a scope on my paintball gun beacuse I could never mount one on my gun so I use the anti double feed mount as a reference for sighting so I just use the mount and a lot of practice with my gun so I am very familiar with how it shoots.

Thats pretty much exactly how you do it. Eventually, you will acheive a certain feel where you can just 'will' it to shoot where you want it to.

Like he said thats all you have to do. I have a scope and i hardly use it. After you play enough with your gun you just know where its aiming.

That is exactly what I am talking about fellow snipers should realize that a scope doesn't make you a marksman in paintball you just need to practice with your gun.

you dont need a scope, because

1.paintballs are not 100% accurate
2.with a scope you will most likely be look @ the tree tops. because the guns is usally at a tilt.
3.also if you happen to use one it will be hard to fire to very rapid shots and triangulate where there are going, in result paintball gun+scope=no

When I used my 98 when I had first gotten it I aimed down the barrel. Now I've got a BlackCell Q-Bow and I have a sight on it (same one that I put on my 98). I personally would rather have the sight, for me it gives me a point of reference when I shoot. I know that paintballs aren't 100% accurate but you can be precise, so if you sight your gun in at say 30yds and your gun can hit a chests sized area at that distance then you can pull off that shot just by putting the dot on the target. Not trying to say its better, just to me more precise. But to each his own.

BTW, Pitbull, your last two reasons for not having a sight don't make sense to me.

I don't use a scope and I practice at 30 yards as well but I shoot at empty coke cans and can hit a coke can over and over again from that distance so hitting a person will be a walk in tha park all you have to do is practice, my best advice for this is to purchase some re-balls and a small scuba tank to re-fill your CO2 if you are using CO2, so that way you can practice without worrying about running into yuor game ammo or air. With the practice you can become more focused on you stealth and not your shots :(

Sniper? Whats a sniper?

My philosophy is...."Spray and Pray"

No for real I just point my gun in their direction and pop shots off at them, then adjust after watching were my paint was hitting.

Yeah, paintballs are like tracers :D

Fox urine nothing! I would rent an elephant from the local circus and give it a massive dose of ex-lax. I would then proceed to "cork it" with an attached string so when the kids show up KABLOOEE!!!!!! See if their parents can sue an elephant for defacating! -ZZaque

Its a good thing that the paintballs I use in my pumps are heat seeking then!

The thng to remember guys is yes you can walk the paint on target by seeing where the balls go but every body or any body who looks can see that stream of paint and it can give away your position, I shot a guy like that once, he let out a stream of paint and I put one round in the bush and he stood up with a big pink splat in the middle of his goggles.

Red dots are nice. low power scopes between 2-3 power work well too. you can zero them to the appropriate ranges.

A paintball is rarely effective past 150 feet. With enough familiarity with your marker, aiming is second nature.

I could never stand "walking paint in" or shooting more in order to compensate. Hitting with your first shot has the advantage that your target doesn't get to react to it. I never go through more than 500 rounds a day and it's because I aim at what I'm trying to hit. At the range a paintball is effective it doesn't take a sight - similarly to how muskets or shotguns are aimed. Being familiar with your equipment and aiming down the top (my preference) or side of your marker is plenty good enough.
