When you goto the larger high quality fields your paying for more then just the paint when you pay those high prices for that case. Large fields have alot more overhead then a small field that most of the time lets you byop. They can only charge so much for entry and rentals the rest of the over head has to be covered somehow or they wouldnt turn a profit.

I understand that they're trying to cover some of their overhead but when you're charging people more than double what you paid for the case you're just ripping them off. Most wholesale accounts holders only get charged about $20-30 per case for good stuff when they order it in fairly large quantities. And if you own a large field you should definitely be buying it by the skid.

Didnt imply that they were not ripping people off but with paintball fields you get what you pay for. Large good quality fields can get away with overcharging for paint because most people dont mind shelling out for a good experience, where the smaller fields have to charge low profit margins on there paint to atract customers. Also alot of groups that go dont buy a case per person they split that case between a few people. You also have to consider the original poster is from Canada. The exchange rates Canadian and US dollars are diffrent. On avrage the field i play at charges $80 US for a case, its one of the primere fields in the state.

That's just the field prices, paint in stores is more decently priced... for example, $70 for a case of Evil or XO Silver/Gold (Canadianpaintball), $60 for a case of Formula 13 (CP) or RPS Premium (Badlands), $45 (Badlands) - 50 (field proshop I mention in a moment) for a case of Stinger... and luckily I found a really nice indoor field that's BYOP on Friday, Sunday, and one other day sometime during the week. Entry is $30 and includes air, then $50 + tax for a case of Stinger (or sometimes Diablo Heat...), comes to $85.60 in total for entry and a case. They also have Marbs for $60/case. And every 11th case is free because they give you one of those stamp cards, so once you get 10 stamps (they give you 1 per case you buy), you can turn in the card for one free case.

Yeah, at stores our prices are alright.

Both the fields I talked about are alone in their area and have no competition unless you wan tou drive an hour and a half more.

I get good quality paintballs practically at cost, Nelsplat at $30 a case.

Once the weather warms up I'll probably start using my 98C full auto to support advances again without having my marker ice over.

I got a good deal on some seconds (only thing wrong with them is the fill, looks like bird droppings) at $20 a case.

nel splat ftw... thats all i use, 40 a case here... but its nice, only 20 bucks a day for me to play, thats mowing my neighbors lawn once

most stuff you buy at any store was purchased at half the price you see. that makes for $20-30 wholesale $40-60 retail.

so paying double on paint isn't really outrageous.

most fields have discounts available for regulars.

i get 20% off paint. that helps.

Oh I know exactly the formula that most fields/stores use to price paint. They normally double what they pay for it then add $10. But there's some people saying that they pay $100+ per case. That's simply rediculous. On top of that they're saying that those prices are at FPO fields. That's definitely a rip off.

My home field makes its own paint and they charge $55 for a case of recballs and 65 for tourny grade.

At a place I go to, their FPO Marbalizers are $65 ($55 for scenarios if you pre-reg). Another field that I go to that has open paint, they sell Trimuph but they have a BAD shipment. One day, everyone who bought paint there (blue shell, yellow fill) had really dimpled paint. It looked good in the bag until you started firing it. That day, I had a Freak Jr, with the standard insert .693 and I had a few balls that got clogged in the barrel.

A local pro shop I go to has DXS Bronze for $55 and I have great experiences with the paint.
