....by the way....

if anyone is in the Marines, stationed at Camp Pendleton.... and you want to play paintball....

The Marine Corps Paintball Team is up and running.

Sponsorships through Eclipse and Empire.
TAD orders for those that can.
Local/national events in D2.
Coaches include former Dynasty/Trauma players.
Scrims against Pro teams.
4x week practices.

You'll live/eat/work/play paintball for your job for the season.

....yep. Just letting you all know, for those it applies to.

Question.

What is the difference between this new marine program and the team?

Is the program just the organization of all the differnt teams and clinics or are they forming a civilian team as well?

The Marine program is for a bunch of teams, almost all civilian. Those teams are set up like any other regular paintball team.

The Marine Team is actual active-duty Marines. Our job will be to play paintball... and win D2. Next year will be D1.... because if you play paintball every day for a year... you're going to be good.

SFC- I don't see an issue with your non-dilating eye. It'll just hold you back from any pilot gig. Hell, my job includes painting jets and we have color-blind people! As MDK said, you may have to get a waiver. Check with a recruiter...or don't say anything and wait to see if they find out. Sometimes it is best to shut up while going through MEPS since they are looking for a reason to not let you in.

I was looking into different military careers, and I know there's multiple ways you can earn money for college, but I was wondering if somebody had a link that shows the different programs that different branches offer.

I'll admit I know practically nothing about how the military works, but I'm just looking at my possibilities right now and trying to figure out what I want to do with my life (I'm a junior in high school)

So they will actually pay you to play paintball? Interesting.

For real? How do you get in on that program? I bet it'd be 100 times easier to tell my parents I was enlisting if it was "Mom, Dad...I'm joining the Marines. Don't worry, I'm going to be playing paintball!"
My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

I can attest to that... The Corps is SUPER competitive when it comes to its division and up level sports. For any "Marine Corps" team you have to be damn close to pro level to make the cut a lot of the time.

That's supposedly why the Marine Corps is the only branch of service that doesn't participate in NCAA sports under a Marine Corps banner. Marines are too competitive.

Its actually because they dont have a service academy...they use the Naval Academy and Marines do participate in ncaa sports through that haha

I mean, I haven't seen any of them play and I'm a little rusty (haven't been able to play in six months), but I'm pretty sure I can hold my own

But after talking with the recruiter and a few other people who were/are in the Corps, I'm going to wait a bit (about a year). Everyone told me I should go ahead and get my associates degree. Apparently even with an associates degree in Culinary Arts, it's easier to make officer and I get paid more (and I figure if the recruiter isn't trying to get me to sign up right away, he must be serious about it being better for me.

Officer requires a degree, so anything you do to get closer to that is going to make the process easier.

That said, me and a lot of friends I know really wish we'd been enlisted before trying on the officer hat. You have to think a little bit about your "end-game" -- if you're looking to have a career, and be all secure and crap in your job -- yeah, go officer. If you're more concerned about contributing real stuff fast (or even moderately slow), it's probably worth your while to consider enlisting straight away. Otherwise you'll feel like you're dragging your feet the whole way.

Whats wrong with a career while being enlisted? You get to get your hands dirty for years before being shoved into an office, and at which time you'll retire.

That's just it, I'm jealous of all the dirty-handed enlisted guys. Most especially I'm jealous of the guy in my class who was prior-enlisted.... get ready for it.... as a Marine scout-sniper. No crap. Sniper-pilot.

I fly the T-6 for about another two-three months before I find out for sure, but it's looking like I'll probably wind up in something heavy. Choppers if the planets line up -- otherwise I'll track into either the T-44 or the T-1, and fly something that starts with C. Most likely.
