I'm not bashing, just observing past dealings.
Team Krisis
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last night, or that you got a ticket on the way there...your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth... live it... love it..

How the hell could you stop me? Why in the world would you try? I go hard forever that's just how I'm designed, that's just how I was built.

Lol, that's one way to put it :P. Though foozeball is right; BoB is a great addition to their markers.

But, as I can see in your sig, you don't like SP very much :P. So I'm not gonna start a debate about Smart Parts. That's just kicking a dead horse.

What's another way of putting it? That's about all it is. They'll sue the crap out of a company like AKA, but SP has no problem taking Dye's idea with the BoB technology. It's bull plop, that's one of the reasons I hate SP.

I'm sure that 20-30 people have already given you very good suggestions/answers, but I'll do it anyway.

-what would be a good beginner's speedball setup for an Ion.
-what is a QEV?
-is an agitated/electronic hopper necessary?
-why are new feednecks recommended?
-should I get a reg?
-does it come with eyes?
-is a new board recommended?

(I'm starting at question 2 and going through everything else. I'll leave question 1 for last.)

2. I could be wrong on this, but I'll try. QEV stands for Quick Exuast (sp?) Valve. I think (think) that it helps with the airflow of the gun and improves its cycling time. You can also lower your dwell with this (I can't even begin to explain Dwell, don't ask me.)

3. Is a agitated hopper NECESSARY? No. That said, I SEVERELY (sp?) recommend it. An Evolution 3 from Viewloader runs for about 50-60 dollars. I personally like Eggys (slang or Evolution).

4. A new feedneck is usually recommended because some feednecks on the hoppers are either too small or too large to fit in the stock one (as in a Halo). It is probably the first thing you should upgrade on a stock Ion.

5. The Ion reg is actually one of the best on the market. The only personal complaint I have about it is that it is kind of t'aint so nice lookin'. I took the regulator cover off to make it look better. If you WERE to upgrade to a new reg, I would suggest something from AKA (who SP sued the crap out of a while back) or the Dye line of Hyper 2 inline regs.

6. Simply, yes. The Ion has (I believe) a breakbeam eye system. I would ask others to confirm that, as I'm not sure. But it does come with eyes.

7. A new board should not be necessary at first. If you were to go higher in tournement play, you might consider one. I would recommend the APE Rampage board or the Scenario Dreams board.

1. O.K. here it goes, I'm going to list the absolute Ideal Ion setup, the Average Ion setup and the Po' (poor) Mans setup.

THE IDEAL ION SETUP (IF POSSIBLE.....OR PROBABLE):
Ion ($200)
Q-lock ($40)
ASA (air source adapter) of your choice ($30-60)
Reg ($50-80)
Critical Trigger, which is the only one I like (about $40)
I would actually KEEP the stock barrel
New body kit WITH A BOLT OUT BACK SYSTEM (which means you can take the bolt out easily) ($50-120)
APE board (about $120)
Virtue eyes ($40)
TechT L7 bolt (about $60)
FOR A TOTAL OF $730 (which is a high estimate) (That is only $30 dollars over a stock Shocker NXT!)

AVERAGE ION SETUP (RECOMMENDED):
Ion ($200)
Q-lock ($40)
ASA ($30-60)
Critical Trigger (about $40)
TechT Bolt (about $60)
FOR A TOTAL OF $400 (Which is a high estimate for these upgrades)

PO' MANS ION SETUP (IF NECESSARY):
Ion ($200)
Q-lock ($40)
FOR A TOTAL OF $240

All of these setups require SOME hopper/tank setup. Please consider.
AFTER ALL OF THAT, THERE ARE STILL MORE POSSIBILITIES!

If anyone needs help, PM me.
If anyone would like to correct me, please feel free.
With that said good luck, and good night...

and on a side note, I've decided on the Proto SLG instead of the Ion. it's just a better gun for the price, but at least this thread is good for people looking into new guns.

I have an SP-8*, which runs fine w/ a normal hopper, but an agitated hopper just makes it all that better.

* SP-8 is an ion in a shell

I need not say a thing . . .

Hey, I would go to a Smart Parts EOS. Has all the upgrades that are reccomended for the Ion including a freak barrel. Add a halo B hopper and you have a rockin good gun. I use mine for woodsball, which does pose some problems...but shoots flat and fast...
