if aiming for a small stream hit detection would be very difficult. If i was lightly squirted with paint i would have no idea i was hit...what are you going to have a ref follow you around the whole time? especially if you hit someone in the pod pack. and if i was being squirted by someone i would not leave the field untill a ref told me i was out, (not to cheat i just wouldnt understand why i was being squirted by someone whos on the field without a marker).

Because that defeats the purpose.

Yours and every other gun with a battery. That's not the point. The point is to throw out a liquid stream primarily for the hell of it. It's in the same category as tanks, Double Troubles and milsim gear. You do it because you want the closest thing to an actual flamethrower that you can get.

i have a tipp 98c so i just put my thumb behind the bolt so it wont recock and fires like a FA. it chops every ball if you do that so it basicly is one lol. and no i dont do that on the field i play by the rules. plus with my RT tuned well i dont need to do that.

Range of your average paintball flamethrower: About 20 feet (Although it feels like roughly a bazillion when you're actually getting shot at by one)
Range of a chopping 98C: About 3".

See the problem here?

i tested it and its 8-10ft thats with my stock barrle now if you use a 1" barrle you have about 5ft.

1 hopper and 3 pods (my normal load) at 10ft coverd about 90% of a 4X8 sheet of ply. practical no, costly yes, fun oh ya (mostly if you have some one stand out there so there is a persons out line in the bord ^_^)

i think some steel pipe to make a gun and a frame pack with a tank on it would work fine nothing fancy needed maby a ball valv at the tank for an on/off and one infront of the grip as your trigger a neck down and a short pipe on the end as a nozle would work some garden hose to conect the gun to the tank should be fine total cost 30-50 bucks (depending on prices and tax it may be more or less)

One thing for a flame thrower that would be effective and usable practically would be on a tank. I've been to a game where even the tank with its elevated position could not get a gunner in a tower as he had a medic up with him. The flame thrower would be effective in spraying up top through the tiny gun ports in the tower to get the gunner and his medic.

I've designed an effective flame thrower with a 5 gallon paint capacity.

flamethorwers just make no sense. to me at least. and I know I would be really really mad if someone soaked me with paint. I dont care if its washable I wouldnt want to play after I've been covered.

Either paint or something else. If needed, there's usually more than 1 person who will wade across a creek, chest deep, even if its a cold day out to flank a position.

If you get soaked with paint, you get soaked in paint. Sure I would not like it but its a part of the game. Get back in the game a keep going, don't complain.

Exactly. Also, as I have said many times, it's not like you will be being sprayed by a paint garden hose. The splatter on a person as a result of a flamethrower would be similar to a grenade's.
92% of teens would drop dead if Abercrombie and Fitch said breathing wasn't cool. If your one of the 8% who would be laughing their butt off, put this in your sig.

if people don't want to get hit by a flamethrower when there's one out there, they shouldnt walk on the field.
i do find the idea of a flamethrower overkill though.
