I think it could easily work. Think bout it, that thing is moving FAST! and a piece of fabric wont stop it...c'mon be reasonable, if it was like jersey material or BDU's or something stronger than lets say cotton/polyester, then I could see it not ripping. But if he was wearing a cotton/polyester shirt, easily going through it.

Most tournament markers have something called first shot drop off. On a lot of boards you can turn your FSDO settings up so that your marker purposely shoots hot for the first shot of a game. Now, the idea behind this is that you shoot a few shots beforehand into the net to make sure your bolt isn't sticking. I happen to have a permanent calcification on my head from doing snapshooting drills with someone who failed to get their first shot out before doing the drill. I think the marker designers should design guns that don't have their bolts stick (Smart Parts cough cough) instead of putting in a feature that puts my health as a player at risk.

I don't know about the shirt ripping thing but heres a little story. I went to a bachelor party a couple of years ago. The final game of the day was an all out shoot out. they gave the groom this super marker. The only problem was that there we issues with it. We're going and the groom shoots me in the leg. Later on in the same game, I'm in a building and he puts this marker through the window and shoots my hand less than 6 inches away. Keep in mind that I had on some of the gloves with the plastic backing. I lost feeling in my trigger finger for 10 minutes. I walk off to get the feeling back in my hand and go back in. The shot I took to my leg had happened later in the game. I play in fatigues and anyone who knows anything about them knows that they are made out of a heavy material. When we were finished, I change out of my fatigues and I had a welt the was bleeding like there was no tomrrow. The issue with that super marker was thta they couldn't keep the velocity consistent. It took about 3 months for that "welt' to heal.

Yea. after everygame I got back to the chrono. and re do it. usually it goes up like 5 FPS each time. usually because it gets hotter. and I'm using C02 so flucuation can get pretty bad

There was once this kid at my field and I asked him the FPS limit. He said "I usually keep it around 312. Nobody knows." And I said "You should really turn that down. Then he shrugs and walks off. I don't know why I didn't tell the owner or a ref.

Did anyone mention the fact that PB masks are tested only to withstand the impact of a paintball going about 300 fps? That being the case, who here wants to get hit in the face with any PB going faster the 300fps?

I thinks its more of a danger issue when they crank it up high.

But hey, what do I know...I like grenades! Sorry, what were we talking about?

Hey guess what, if that was my case, and he shot me and my facemask breaks...I'll be right on the phone with my local attorney!

Considering that it's posted at most fields that the FPS be set at 300, I think I'll have one hell of a case on my hands...no? ;)

i don't know about other masks but vforce masks supposedly can withstand a shot from a shotgun. but this is no reason to turn it up past 300. i shoot 260 with my tippmann because i don't want to spike over 300. all of the fields in my area have a limit of 285 probably due to velocity spikes.

On the subject of shooting through material. I was playing an outlaw game where we were wearing just shirts and pants and my friend was shot in the pec, or upper right chest, it went through the shirt and left a pulsing welt. Not sure what the FPS was as it was when we were just getting into paintball and we didn't have a chrono. When my team plays i have everyone chrono at least twice or three times a day.

thats just stupid. i know someone who used to have a 98cp that bragged that it "could shoot faster than any 98 custom"

and there was a proto that could shoot 420fps on ebay with something about the grip or something. they advertised about being able to crack goggles....

it kinda makes me mad(it really makes me mad) maybe someone should shoot him w/ his won gun and see how he likes it

While my friend did not do this purposely it is kinda of funny and scary at the same time (no one was hurt). We were playing some outlaw ball out in a back bush, and apparently one of my buddys lost something in the velocity adjuster (still not sure). Well while we were shooting each other, my one friend hid behind a 1/8" piece of plywood for cover and my friend fired 2 shots at the board to keep his head down.....both shots went right through the board and hit the guy on the other side ;)

Plywood was rotted, paintballs were frozen or not even paintballs at all. I doubt a paintball would blast throuth plywood and still be intact.

Last year i was hit in the chin by a really young player (prolly 12) who was hiding behind a bunker, i ended up bunkering him and after he was dead i guess his reflexes caused him to shoot, needless to say since he was crouched and i was standing his delayed shot went under my mask and hit my chin. My chin split open upoun impacked and started to gush blood. He was about 4 feet from me when he did this so that didn't help, but a ref saw me take the late shot on my chin and checked his velocity, he was shooting 325. The front of my jeresy was coverd in the blood and i had a nasty cut on my chin for about 2 weeks, a battle scar so to say.

There is a reason fields have certain standards, us not following them just hurts the sport even more.
