I have one.

When some one that has never played before or has only played a couple times starts giving out orders that are really bad and tells you stuff like "advance" or "lets all move up, come on", and them the person slinks back to the end of the group and slumps down somewhere.

It aggrivates me.

My pet peeve is when a player uses the cover of dead guys walking off the field to advance or flank my position. Even worse than just having them between me and him, is when the player is strolling along talking to the dead guys, trying to blend in with them.

At a rec ball field there were some dead walking behind my position and heading back to the safey netting. They had their markers up in the air and the live guy had his marker slung and pointing at the ground. I made the decision not to light up the lazy dead guy who was not holding his gun up. I turned my attention to a fellow 10 feet behind them crawling up on my flank. Then suddenly I am being pelted with paint from the midst of the dead guys.

I called out that I was hit. The ref called me out. I protested that the guy was dead. He said he didnt have his gun up so I was informed that it was a perfectly legal tactic. I walked off.

Man, this made me angry! I hope I never need to shoot a fellow player so bad that I need to be sleazy to do it.

Am I supposed to light up dead guys just to make sure they are really dead?

Speedballers bashing Woodsballers in person.

I was at the local speedball field with my brother and his friend. I didn't play but I brought my gun and mask to get it chronoed since it's been sitting for a while. 2 speedballers come up to me, probably 15 years old. One with gray vForce Grillz comments me on my reverse green Grillz and asks to trade. I said no thanks, and I do like the color for woodsball because it can help me blend in a little bit. Then the Grillz owner's friend says "Yeah, you need them for blending in with those smoke grenades". They laughed and walked off. That PERTURBED me off. I did not pry any further.

I don't know if anyone said this but don't use anyone elses paint unless for some reason they let you. Once playing outlaw I was walking off the field and when I got back to where we were keeping our stuff I saw kids opening one of my bags of paint and were loading up their hoppers with it.

Just because you have the money to buy a 2-way radio doesnt give you the right to tune into the other team's frequency to listen to what they have to say. Just because you probably wont get cought doing it doesnt mean its a fair tactic.

I wanted to say that some of that you listed should be an act of common politeness. This should be in your mind even before you play.Even for the newbies this is being polite. For example som kid takes your gun out of your hands without asking.......i mean that must mean he was brought up with no mannors.I know it sounds sorta mom-ish but that was what i was brought up on.If happened to me I'd pump that kid with 200 rounds from 10 ft away.Even if I have a crap gun I dont want anyone takeing it from me........its mine back up!Hopefully some newbies will learn good from this thread.thanks

stay sharp and strong

Refs/Field Operators that dont actually give a crap about paintball. I cant stand going to a field where its just some farmer that decided to open a field in his cow pasture so he could suck a few dollars out of people. We used to have a local field like that, the ref was pretty unknowledgable and pretty arrogant towards players. Overcharging for paint, air, and the 'right to play', then being unhelpful and unsportsmanlike. Case in point:

a few years ago, some tool friend of the owner used frozen paintballs and thought it would be funny. He brought the packet of paint out of a cooler, not unusual, but they were frozen solid and he loaded up them up and took them into the field. As soon as we realized we had what effectively makes rocks, shooting at us, we tried to call out, but not before one of my friends to a shot to hand nearly breaking it. The worst part, the ref/operator there (not a nice guy to begin with) believed the guy when he professed ignorance, despite his attitude clearly showing he knew what he was doing, then actually got mad at us for refusing to play against him again.

Fortunately, the operator there is now out of business and broke.

I hate getting shoved into the leadership role.

I'm often one of the more experienced players at any field I go to, thus if teams get split up and I'm the only guy with a clue on my team...Bam I'm commander.

Great, I hate being commander but I will give a plan, but no one ever listens (at least on rec play) or while I'm telling everyone the plan some noob who thinks he can give orders better starts talking about his plan.

I mean you told me to give you a plan, you told me to lead (and I said I didn't want to), so why would you Hijack my plan.

Then when no one listened to Dennis (thats me) and you listened to Joe (the noob who opened his mouth) DON'T COME COMPLAINING TO ME!

God you sat in one bunker as I was yelling for you to come up. You didn't give cover fire to your buddy when he ran. You sat with your head in the open for the entire game and you got goged? THESE ARE NOT MY FAULT FIND A NEW SUCKER!

thats my pet peeve

THANK YOU SpedMDB ! I hope the new players listen to your advice. These players drive me crazy. Oh, and if anybody ever tried to take my marker out of my hands or rummage through my gear I'd have to smack 'em like the punk they are.

I'd love to see someone try to take my gun out of my hands. Not only because of how hard I would hit them (they are trying to, for all I know, steal my multiple hundreds of dollars of equipment? No, I'll treat them like any other thief), but also because I have the Spec Ops integrated sling and a remote line. :D That would really make me mad. As stated before, taking my marker out of my hands could be taken as assault.

Another one of my pet peeves (one of my friends is guilty of this almost all the time) is when a newer player decides to follow you around (or you volunteer to be followed) so they can learn something from you. When it comes time for you to move up, and I pop out to give you covering fire, duck behind my bunker and realize you haven't moved an inch makes me mad. Also, I haven't had any experience with bad leadership (I play rec games (for now :ghillie:) so it's mostly "I'm going this way" stuff). One time though, we were in, I dunno, maybe 6-6 or more woods game, and my friend says "stay right there, I'm going to go up to see where they are". So, I stay right there, and what happens? I get shot. I told him about it later, and I got "Well, stupid, you weren't supposed to stay right there". That made me mad, too.

Another time, one of my friends accused me of getting him shot, but it wasn't a huge deal because it was an outlaw game, us two against my ex-self-proclaimed sniper, now speedball friend (the same one who got me shot). I just told the one who said I got him shot he could call the shots next time. :D

Said friend who is calling the shots next time (we are actually supposed to go play a bigger outlaw game tomorrow in the woods behind his house) is also good about borrowing stuff. He caught the paintball bug (well, more than a bug, but whatever) from me and my friend. At first, he didn't have anything, but then he went out and bought him a $20 Brass Eagle, a tank, and a mask. I let him borrow my pod pack, as I have a vest now, and I got it back after the day was over. Now he has a new Tippmann 98 (his girlfriend really likes him! It wasn't even his birthday! :P) and he is itching to use it in a game.

When someone buys their own stuff to play with instead of borrowing someone else's all the time is always a good thing, no matter if it is a crap gun.

Sorry for my novel there, I'm pretty bored. Nice thread by the way!

I hate people that get all bent out of shape when someone says "snipers exsits" or "snipers don't exist" shut up and play ball

I hate people that are too serious. Paintball is supposed to be fun. This is not the army. Wanna play army, I hear they're looking for new people all the time.
Team Krisis
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last night, or that you got a ticket on the way there...your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth... live it... love it..

How the hell could you stop me? Why in the world would you try? I go hard forever that's just how I'm designed, that's just how I was built.

I hate people who shoot me when I barrel tag them. Although I've only been able to get close enough to tag someone 4 times. 2 of them whipped around and shot me

Pet peeves / productive ideas
1. joining a team and everyone is just standing there with no game plan. Talk people! where are you going what are you doing? If you are team captain then be just that! Everytime, I have to generate conversation to figure out a gameplan.
2. If you are team captain and you pick your players make sure you remember who they are and don't shoot them in the back later.
3. If you have a plan commit to it. Everytime, I am being covered, my teammates disappear behind me and I am all alone up front. Don't be that guy.
4. Get to know your teammates names. If you have to call me "camo guy" or "jt jersey" it will not be affective on the field.
5. Do not, in an elimination game, hang back in the far back bunker. you are useless if you do this. We need maybe 1 guy back there not 7. There should be a name for people who do this. At the end of the game, it is like shooting fish in a barrel and they always surrender.
6. People who shoot like crazy in the first 30 seconds of game play on a huge field. You are wasting paint and air. Run like hell and get to a position. ( I was guilty of this one )
7. Asking someone to Surrender when you do not have the upper hand. They will shoot you.
8. Playing elimination all day long. There are many more games to play. mix it up. Most refs will enjoy a change of pace.
9. Do not bad mouth other players. There is a learning curve and if you haven't turned pro or semi-pro yet then umm... shut it.
10. Know a little something about your gear. If someone comes up to you and is interested in your barrel/hopper/stock etc. and you don't know what it is. Why do you have it then?

Keep this up. just do a top ten. I am surprised that so many people touch other's personal property like that.

This is my first post on these forums and I am the first to admit I'm still a noobie at woodsball. Being ex-military and a lover of paintball (I played extensively about a decade ago, long before the army and med school took away my free time), woodsball is a good fit for me. I'm pleased to see that paintball has grown so big in the past decade. So, as a noob, I thought I'd comment on this thread.

Most of the gripes here (and all are legit, don't get me wrong), seems to stem from playing with immature kids. We've never had any of these problems. As an example, myself and a couple of friends of mine are trying to get woodsball up and running here. We bought six masks, six vests, a fill station, six half decent markers, neckguards, and plenty of paint. We asked older people who work with us if they wanted to play. Initially, we didn't charge for the paint and air and lost a bit of cash (but gained a group of now dedicated players who are purchasing their own gear). Now we charge a small fee for paint and air and almost break even on each game--we can absorb a small loss if it means getting people interested. The point I am trying to make is that we've never had a marker damaged. We've never had anything go missing. Everything is returned to us in the same shape we lend it out. We simply choose to lend it out to people who are mature enough to realize that someone is paying for all this gear, even if they don't. We haven't had any grief thus far, and although we have had younger people play with us, we choose wisely and have had a great time.

Like anything, it's who you game with. If you game with idiots, expect idiot behaviour. It's not just noob behaviour--I'm a noob and I would never do any of the things quoted in this thread.

I'm glad to have found this thread. Paintball is not big in this area and I appreciate hearing from those who know much more than I and have the experience to back it up. Expect questions from me as I go about adding more mods to my A5 and my 98 (I'm adding a flatline and a new stock this weekend to the A5...btw, what does everyone think about the EGrip? I'm still not impressed with mine yet).
