Only thing not needed there is chest armor.. But I'd say a barrel condom is more needed than a plug, since I think most fields require condoms, not plugs. I don't have a field in my town.. so I couldn't tell you.

As much as people think you don't need a cup or slider shorts.. you'll eventually learn that you do.
Mask.. is obviously needed.
And gloves.. Well, needed, unless you take your fingers for granted.

Oh, and no safety is ever enough.

Well when at a field I follow their rules but me and my friends are pretty good with gun saftey (like not aiming at each others faces) and someone ALWAYS forgets their barrel plug/condom so we dont even bother with them we just triple check our safeties at the end of each round. I have played without a mask before (we had 3 people and 2 masks), it definitly makes you more aware of people shooting at you but I figured as long as we set the bunkering rule to like 30 or 40 feet it wasnt a problem (they wouldnt listen to me about arcing their shots so they all kept dropping around my feet anyways).

Not me. But whoever you are, Click 'ALWAYS WEAR A MASK' below. You'll change your mind very quickly after reading about 1-I.

Always wear a mask.
Chest armor isn't needed.
I wear gloves, not for paintball protection, but because I'd chew my hands up crawling and climbing in the woods otherwise. I also always wear a cup to protect the jewels.

And barrel condoms are always needed.

If I had to choose between never playing again, or playing without a mask, I'd never play.
Seriously, read 1-i's thread.

It's up to the individual player how much protection or "armor" he or she wishes to wear. If their scared or if it's there first time they'll probably look like the Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. If they have been playing for ever and know the sting of a paintball, some dude might run out in a Man Thong. One thing is for sure though, you should always wear eye goggles or some sort of eye/face protection.

I started playing back in 1990 and the masks that we had covered your face and eyes. We were playing a fort game and one of the guys managed to hit the window frame. The shell of the paintball sliced my ear up pretty good. A mask has to be full coverage. Barrel plugs are not such a good idea because they can be shot out.

Armor is very low on the list and only recommended for youngsters that really shouldn't be playing in the first place... Gloves aren't needed but help the day. Masks and BBD are more important then paint itself.
