Well I have played my first game of pump and it was fun but of course I did awful. I was thinking of getting a red dot sight for my pump to help my target acquisition a bit. i know that optics that have magnification are no good, and that I will not be able to just sight it in and drive nails with it. I have read all of the topics on optics for paintball. I was just thinking of using it to get my target lined up (horizontally) and then judgment for the vertical aspect of aiming. No i do not think this will immediately make me better, or anything like that, i just feel that aiming down the side of my 99 rf cocker is a bit awkward.

So this brought me to wonder, do any of you out there use red dots or other similar sights on your gun? Do you find them useful? whats good or bad about them?

Btw, does anyone know the rail that is on a 99 RF cocker? I dunno what size, it looks like a dove tail of some sort but not sure on the size

So because I play scenarios, I won't buy a high-end unless it has rails at useless angles, and has a machine-gun shroud bolted on it?-Maduce

I find the bead sight on my Houndstooth very useful. While there are a lot of purists who advocate simply sighting down the side of the barrel or zen shooting, i still find a simple sighting setup to be very useful. The small, inexpensive Daisy/ADCO red dot sights work plenty well.

I used a red dot sight a couple times in the past, but now I have gotten used to just snap shooting with my phantom.

For the 99rf, why not just aim down the middle and use the barrel?

Slow down, pump the ball, aim, shoot....

It's a regular dovetail rail, so any sight like a brass eagle cheapo, and alike red dot sighs will mount just fine.

when i first started using a phantom, it came with a red dot installed by the owner, when the glass was shot out, that was the end of using sites

i think it'll help, but in the end, it'll be better if you just get used to where the gun shoots, you'll be able to take aim much faster
