I'm inclined to agree with Pistolwhipped on timing - you won't know when it hits.

Yes, I believe the Bible. Many of my thoughts pertaining to the EOTW come from there, just as much of my philosophy of life comes from there. That said, the Bible is intentionally not specific about the when or the how of the EOTW. As PW quoted, none of us know and it will remain that way until then.

@ IrishMack,

I have some theories on the whole end based on factors both in the Bible directly and some based on just observation and speculations. If I'm right (and I can't say for sure that I am), I think you'll get your wish (well, partially anyway).

@ 2012

Who knows? I wouldn't be one to say for sure. Could be sooner, could be later. We'll know when we get there.

As for me, my strategy for the near-end/end is simple. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Just because the "end" could come does not mean that there won't be a rough period before hand, and it's always best to prepare. You lose nothing by doing so.

Just for any old emergency (not just EOTW specific), I try to keep a good stock of ammunition, as well as some basic food, water, and medical supplies. You can laugh all you want, I'll just direct you to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti (or the Chile earthquake if you prefer a more modern nation), etc. It simply makes sense to have some preparation, even if it's just for a short term (matter of days to a week or two) emergency.

@ HSP

See, that's why a lot of people say "end of the world as we know it." :dodgy:

Doesn't necessarily have to be the end, just the end of what we knew and the beginning of something else.

I just hope the Stargate program is real and I'll have a place to go when all this goes down. Or all this money NASA is getting is for a good cause, like making ships!!!!!.

To all those who believe the Bible( myself included), the end of the word is just another fact in life. It will most licking end in "the stars falling from the heavens" (the sun exploding, or a great mentor shower), but who relay cares. Yes its interesting and yes it will happen. But why bother worrying about it when its not happening now. And yes there might be hard times leading up to it but that's just the last bit of fun we will have on this earth before it goes. so study it if you wish, but don't worry about its timing. No one knows when it will happen(we might get close), so enjoy your lives while you have it.

Well, here's my thoughts on it:

Even removing the whole "end of the world" from the equation, it make sense to have some basic preparation made and good to go.

Even if the world will last another 10,000 years (or however long you want to make it), it makes sense to be prepared for a more localized emergency.

People in New Oreleans "not worrying about it" sure changed their minds after Katrina.

Besides, guns are fun. What a worthy investment - you have fun while you're preparing for "just in case," be it a local disaster, civil unrest, home defense, or the end of the world.

You just can't lose.

So basically, we were meant to enjoy this world we were put on. Guns are just an extension of that fun. As for preparing, that's a personal thing to do or not do. But when the Anti-Christ comes and he says that all you need to do to get food and take care for you family to just put this (666)tattoo on your head, that's when you'll find me having fun running and gunning

The world ending in 2012 is just a bunch of hooplah. (B.S. for those of you who dont know that term)
So the mayan calender ends, big deal, maybe they just got tired of making a calender thousands of years into the future and just said "FRAG it, we're done with calender making, onto more important aspects of life."
Or maybe that's as far as the calender guy got before he died, or was killed by the spanish. Also (according to wiki) spanish church and government officials destroyed a lot of mayan texts. So maybe the rest of the calender was also destroyed.
There's no reason to get yourself all worked up because some ancient civilization's calender stops on a certain day. If they're so smart and all knowing where are they now?! haha Like somebody else said, the world was supposed to end at Y2K, but we're all still here and we'll still be here on December 13th or 21st or 22nd whatever the day after is.

and if the numbers 12 21 2012 are significant why not 10 01 1001 or 12 21 1221 or 12 21 2112

exactly kage! Lets try something here...I'm just going to throw a bunch of random numbers together and thats the end of the world date. I'll also predict that in 50 years there will be a war, maybe some famine in 70 years. Ummm there will be earthquakes and hurricanes in 10 years, and volcanoes in 15. Oh hey I'm becoming nostradamus....

EOTW date for as predicted by omestradamus is 9-16-2500. FEAR THE DAY!! FEEEEEAAAAARRRR IT

EDIT: I is not false idol..dont bring wrath of god on me lol
