The new Proto SLG is technically a sear tripper with an electronic board. In conjunction with the SPPL hopper rules section 32

Quote

-Prohibited Paintball Marker List
A. Any electro pneumatic marker that is used in conjunction with ANY force feed loader
or with loader with an advertised feed rate above 15 balls per second. Important note:
Purely mechanical markers may use any loader they choose.
Approved Electro Pneumatic Markers Hopper Combinations
(E framed Autocockers, EGOs, SP Impulse, Shocker, ION, SP8, Nerve, Angels, Aliens,
Intimidators, Nemisis, Xonic, Wrath, ICD Bushmaster, 2k, BKO, Freestyle, Promaster,
Dye Matrix, DM4, DM5, DM6, DMC, Invert Mini, Proto, Evil Omen, Pimp, Odyssey
RPM, FEP Quest, and possibly the Spyder EM1) may use the following hoppers.
Viewloader (9v, 12v, XBoard, 3000, MAXX, and Tripod styles of Revolution, Quantum),
Extreme Rage Overdrive, Reloader (A, 2), HALO TSA (Frontman, Backman), Ricochet
(AK, 2K, 2KX, Rhino), ZAP Mach404, and any true gravity style hopper.
And may not use HALO (A, Reloader B, Viewloader (Vlocity, eVLution), Ricochet
Apache, Pulse and Warp Feeds. Q-LOADERS are approved for use with all markers

Is the SLG technically legal with say a Halo/Reloader/VLocity/VLocity JR (ect.) loader?
From my understanding of the rules it would be like an Tippmann 98 Custom with an E-trigger using a force fed loader.

I will again have to do more research. Thank you.

Side note:
I can't tell each person what to do with their hopper/marker combo. But if it were me playing in this league this is what I would do.

I would pick out a nice marker, one that fits me,one that I like. I would then turn the ROF down on the marker to 14.8 bps, in addition
I would find a nice agitating hopper, something that can feed 13-14 BPS.
Now I am ready to go play knowing I am well inside the letter and the sprit of the rules.

Again I can't tell anyone what to do but if it were me I wouldn't push it.

There is another new marker on the market.
Mokal's Arua you'll see a few in SPPL this year. www.mokal.com/airguns/index.html

it's a stack bow back but a higher end one. these high end sear trippers are very capable of out running an Ion.

Suggestion >> no banned hoppers on any electric marker or any "assisted" marker. assisted would include RT.
( feel free to beat me,, lol)

As a league experiment the CSPPL will not be allowing any hopper rated at 16 bps or more on any marker. We will see how that goes.

Sounds good...

According to the current rules, the SLG would be legal with any hopper (although I wouldn't personally put a HALO on it, that's a big heavy hopper on a small light gun).. We'll see what Curtis comes back with.

A-Guy, I agree. I'd go with that, if it were me..

PaleRider - When people show up to these events how do you clock the BPS? ie - I use a minion and a pulse but I can turn the BPS down to anything. How will you check it?

btw everybody - Death rides a pale horse hence the name. "Ghost Riders in the Sky" FTW.

They don't need to clock it. You're using an electro-pneumatic with a >15bps loader. That is an illegal combination. you'll need to pick up a sub-15bps loader to play in the SPPL.

The hopper marker rules have been update to more clearly define.
What hopper and what marker can be used.

I hope this update will clear up the questions on this subject.

I totally agree with this, I just already have a faster hopper from playing speedball, but if I have enough money for speedball I have enough money to buy a lower bps hopper to beable to play in csppl

interesting, I know some of our guys did a trick where those of us with speedball guns would trade our fast hoppers in to those who had hoppers capped at 15 and mech guns so that more people could use electric hoppers and we would still be within this rule. However we are glad to see this rule because hopefully it will bring younger and newer teams into the league.

In a word "no" it is not, the rules have been updated to more clearly state what is and is not "ok"

In a nut shell any marker that has any kind of electronics or a response trigger on it, may not use a force fed hopper.
I am hopeful this will resolve any questions regarding hopper/marker combos.

Before you ask questions or go off please read the updated rules in section 32.
