I personally prefer BT-4s, but the A-5 is a solid second.

I would say they all have the same amount of "upgrades". It all depends on what your definition of an upgrade is. They all have the same potential for performance. They all have the same amount of modifications that directly improve performance. That's pretty much limited to a spring kit, barrel, and consistent air source. I would say A-5s and 98s have the largest amount of "modifications" though. They have a huge pool of parts made from body kits, to stocks, rails, grips, etc. I wouldn't buy a marker based on how many upgrades it has though. It's an advertising point for a lot of less expensive markers. If you ask me it's just a salesman's way of covering up for things that were taken out of the marker to begin with.

Of your choices I personally like the BT-4. They broke away from Tippmann when they started doing some changes to their markers "Ben Tippmann" didn't completely agree with. BT-4s have a few things you won't find on modern day Tippmanns: A removable grip frame, and an actual aluminum body. They're still a clamshell but there's not much around that with most inline blow backs these days. It also has a few nice features like a removable front grip and it allows for multiple barrel threads. In my opinion it's not just another Tippmann clone. It's a marker that took what it didn't like about 98's and took a few of the nice things on A-5s and improved upon it.

Markers are kind of like Harleys...if you haven't customized it to make it your own...you probably just haven't saved up the $$ yet

BTs the only marker still made by a tippmann

although another good entry level gun on the same lines would be the sp1 which so far has proven just as reliable as the tippmann and kinder on paint then tippmanns

I'll also have to say the SP1.

The original 3 choices the original poster placed are all (basically) the same. Same weakness of design, all made in China.

thought the bt was made in the US?

oh well i just lost some respect for BT

sp1s are mostly made in the US, all but the plastic frame and rails, all the metal and electronics are made in the US as well as all the assembly

Out of those three I get the BT. I don't care if it's made on the moon. You don't have to dump a bunch of upgrades into it. Just get a good barrel and a loader and maybe a Palmer Stabilizer.

Out of those 2 choices I would pick BT first, and the Tippmann second. Reasons have already been stated.

PCS, not worth mentioning.

I would take a Tippmann first with a BT second.
