Impossible. Too many variables. Maybe we could write an application where you put in your budget, playing style, and whatnot, and it spits out a couple gun choices for you!

A5 is not a bad choice. I still have mine, i like to play with it soemtimes. Maybe you can move up to an automag sometime! Or move up to a pump gun. Yea thats right, UP to a pump gun. Brass for the win!

I got a secret for you... and a lot of the forum members know it to, so I may get some flak for stating it.

All paintball guns work great in the woods/scenarioball field. Yes, even the expensive high end electropneumatic ones.

The best gun for any form of paintball is the one that feels comfortable in your hand and you are used to. This means going out and playing/practicing.

Now, for $250 total budget?

In no particular order: Ion, A5, any BT gun, spyders (e-spyder for faster shooting, mech for simpler gun), etc. A thermal lens (or other quality) mask is necessary to help prevent fogging. If you can somehow get an HPA tank into that, do so. If you can't get an Ion and HPA, go for something else because CO2 + electropneumatic marker = bad possibility of disaster (e-spyders aren't true electropneumatics and thus are safe from CO2).

Pump guns are great, but I wouldn't recommend them to a new player because it sets a newer player at an even bigger disadvantage. Pumps in the right hands are insanely fun. Pumps in a new player's hands are a frustration. After you've had some game experience and you like the idea of a pump gun, then go for it. I love pumps.

i have a spyder mr2 if you want it. thats a good gun for woodsball. and it takes c02. but if i wasnt trying to sell something, i would say the a-5 because for a new person to paintball, your going to need a gun that can take a murder. or beating. or whatever

Look around, some pro shops sells markers in a kit that gives you pretty much everything you need.

and high end ,expensive marker are has or more durable than lower cost marker , look how much abuse they take in tourney

Does that budget count the cost of hopper/tank?

If so, everything needed aside from a mask and pods/harness if you want one for new Ion package for $306 total.

Found it with about thirty seconds of searching on Action Village.

plus shipping...and that doesnt exactly come with the best hopper and tank. For a beginner I think you should get a Tippmann 98 or an A-5, because of your price range I think you should get a Tippmann A-5 package, and if you have any money left get another co2 tank and a better barrel.

Shipping is free on orders over $100 there.

As for the other stuff, you won't get the best tank and hopper and a good gun inside $300.
