Folks,

Some very good ideas running around here. Let's start posting up ideas for a possible LotR scenario. We also need to find a location to play the game. Also what parts of the books/movies would we choose to play? I vote for the Mines of Moria! or Shelob's lair. Maybe even Cirith Ungol. Orthanc?
Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle. My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the ONE in whom I take refuge!

The Lord of the Rings....

Helms Deep, Pelanor Fields or the Gates of Mordor are all classic battles that would lend themselves to a great scenario...

I think that it would be cool if we could have this event a more than one location. In LotR they were moving across some many different terains and regions it would be cool if there was a way to do that with this game as well. With something like that one could use the GPS idea of yours Jack.

Sauron? Who came up with that? Invictus- are you made at me because I didn't break the shocker yet? I'm sure it'll happen. But why send me to the dark side? I guess that means I'll be crushing some halflings.

You were on the dark side last weekend!...Just figured you'd stay with the "bad-ites"...It seemed rather fitting...Especially using a Smart Parts weapon...All Smart Parts materials are forged in the bowels of hell... Therefore as long as you weild the weapon of the demons you may not dare step foot into the light. Even if you were to rid yourself of the weapon your soul would still be tainted. You would need the extremely holy Planet Eclipse Ego (Power of Holy Smiting +5) to cleanse your soul. From what I hear the Wraith's Automag is also quite holy...but I don't know if it has the power to cleanse souls.

As far as moving locations...Ugh...I think we learned last weekend...Simpler is better...

I should've seen this game coming...ugh...

See when I got into scenario games, we always did stuff like...Normandy...Vietnam...Civil War games...Now I'm doing...Lord of the Rings...wow...

I keep telling people I want to do historical battles. ( got to put my OU history major to work somehow...) How about the Battle of Rourke's Drift, Battle of Hue, Little Round Top, Agincourt, (darn frenchies) or if we had trenches, the Battle of Belleau Woods. Of course, I still want to do StarGate, Indeed...

JKR brought this up awhile back and I think it would do well in some historical battles. The idea of limited amo, pump/pistols only games, maybe 1 full-auto to simulate a mg nest (can't move it as those things were heavy during WWI) and so on. Just food for thought. I know JKR has been wanting to say it so I will. What about a futuristic game with only "space guns"! I would pay to see JKR or Thumper with an electro in hand!! :P Maybe a civil War scenario and you have to count to 60 in-between each single shot...

To bring the question of Scoobshagg and Invictus at odds question to this thread: I guess I was saying that you two (I know you are friends) just have clashing personalities and that you each go about things differently and that the two of you would make 'good' enemy generals against one another.

I guess I have to say something about LOTR to warrant my post...hhm. I do think that we learned at Rum Runners that moving battle locations and having a staging area far from the actual playing field is bad. If you can manage what Thumper has done by segmenting different areas of his field off for individual battles (scenarios) than I'm all for it. A LOTR scenario game...umm. There, I just meantioned LOTR twice (now 3 times) so I'm good in this thread now and I'm outta here.

Btw, just because I go by Frodo does not mean I am a LOTR's fanboy. In the Army monikors, nicknames and call-signs are rarely self chosen and very often applied to one from a group of friends and if they stick than so be it. 'Frodo' stuck from the beginning of Iraq to Germany (I was one of the smaller guys in my squad, I hung out with a guy that looked like SamWise and my hair gets curly when long) so I figured I might as well keep using it. Just some inside info. In my MMO games i usually went by Bandit or Redrum. Bandit as it fits my personnality and is in the name of my regiment in Iraq and Redrum for well, I bet some of you know the movie and its one of my all time favs (Jack rocks!).

Redrum! Redrum! Redrum! they're heeeerrrrree... by the way, Lord of the Rings. :(

Actually, how about a scenario scene from The Hobbitt. Not sure how many of you have read the books, but remember where the dwarves get caught by the cave trolls? This could be an attack and defend game. Kill off the three trolls, and save the hostages and get the three swords, Orcrist, Glamdring and Sting... Yes, I am a fantasy nerd...

I'd consider using one of those "mouse click trigger" thingamabobs if you'd use your Phantom for a day! Since I have known you, that thing hasn't seen one minute of field time - poor neglected thing! ;)

You might reconsider your laughter over me using an electro if you were on the opposite team. They require so little skill to shoot quickly, I am sure I could wipe that smile right off your face! :P

If you can turn it on...hehe. I did use the Phantom out at J&J's in Marrietta for about 10 minutes until my first shot went wide and I had two electros rain pain upon me soft and sensitive skin... :) Invictus and I have actually been discussing pumps and how they look good in trophy cases or marker museums... Someday...maybe someday JKR. Never say never. Oh yea, go LOTR scenario WOOT!! I like Shadowjackal's idea too. :P

Breaking news... The Phantom has been lubed, re-screwed and touched (cu the Porn music). In other words (G rated) it has been oiled, tightening of sight and hopper screws and has shot (with no breaks) 50 balls down range at a consistant 290 fps and almost spot on (silly US Army balls). So this Saturday the Phantom will be on sight but its a shame JKR and Scoobshagg (the ones who might just appreciate this work of art) will not be there. I think I'll use it as a walking stick, tire chalk or more likely a gun mat for my precious Bob Long so it never has to touch the ground or a dirty table. Tell your mother-in-law I said "hi" JKR!!

you know what might be fun, is that in both the hobbit, and LotR some of the characters started out without weapons. It might be fun to have a game where only a few on each team has weapons. Then put some markers placed either in the middle of the field, or scattered around the field to be found. That would make things interesting.

Oh and Frodo it's true I probably would appreciate the pump on Saturday, it is a nice shade of green, and would go with my camo. But to use it as a door mat for shame for shame.
