anyone who was at or heard about the sppl might know that there was some ghillied refs there.(although the day ended with only one). for woodsball play i think its a great idea. I plan on hiring a couple new ghillie refs.

haha awesome idea. i'd feel bad if i lit up a ref though.

even better than ghillie refs is "secret" refs. i.e. players acting as the secret police for the field. wait a minute..i already do that. lol

I would say it's good and bad. Good because it will help conceal people's positions, bad because if they did spot you, you would probably get shot at.
The problem with socialism is that you'll eventually run out of other people's money.

i would not feel bad about lighting up a ghillie ref.
if i saw someone in the booshes with a ghillie on, damn straight im shooting till they scream. if it happends to be a ref, so sorry. but im not gonna let the concern of maybe its a ref stop me from throwing paint. i know what my teams sniper can do.
but on the other hand i do like the idea of being able to sneak up on cheaters and catch them in the act.
but in the woods, its been my experience, you can sneak up on cheaters preatty well even when wearing bright yellow/orange. so i duno i think this is interesting.

The Ghilie ref worked out great and was very popular at the SE Qulifier like Redleg said. Yes they did get lit up ALOT, especialy in the begining. I think in the end though it worked out well. Controller was able to keep a close eye on players without giving them away to the other team. The paranoia of not knowing if your being watched helped make players more honest with everything on the line there.

In a scenerio game though the ref would just be lit up to the point of quiting I think. Just too many players on the feild and they wouldnt know if that moving bush is a player or a ref until hes standing on his feet jumping up and down yelling "REF REF REF FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE IM A REF!"

So basicly ghilie refs for SPPL style events = good, ghilie refs for scenerio games = bad, and ghilie ref for a speedball game = somone smoking crack.

Eh, I suppose if you had -alot- of people, you would want to crack down on cheaters rather badly. But I think that if I saw even the slightest twitch of such a "bush", I'd spread a three shot burst into it. x3

Nah, when I ref, which isn't often, (Just to even the teams) I use a deer hunter's vest and hat. FO ensures you won't get shot...if someone shoots at you and you're wearing FO, then you need to sit them down and have a talk with them. ;)

I am not for Ghillie Ref's......If I see a ghillie ref and dont know the diffrence A I am going to shoot. If the ref happens to be next to a package ....I see him and call my guys away becuase there is a sniper...now the ref just made sure I didnt get that package.....I wont feel bad for taking shots at the ref...or having my whole unit attack that sniper/Ref....Yes I see that is does help them look for cheaters...I just feel it will interfer with the game to much

one of my fellow refs told me this:
He was lying in the brush during the night (it was a scenario), and the refs were supposed to where glowsticks (he wasnt) so a group of players stumble upon hik and say "what team are you on" "none" "suuuurrrreee, no really, what team" "im a ref" "no you arnt" "dont believe me, shoot me, youl see". The group nearly did shoot at him, but just ran away..

Just goes to show you. Refs should not always hide.

You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last nite, or that you got a ticket on the way there.. your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it.. Paintball 4 life..
