How much is five grand worth to you? Really. Think about that. Is it worth being miserable? If it is, then stay. If not, then quit. Talk to your dad about it.

Aw Benjie, it'll be okay Benj, I'll give you mine

Wow... That's... interesting.. Why does your father want you to play so badly? I think this is important. How long have you played baseball for? How old are you? On a scale of 1-10, how miserable does playing baseball make you?

And the scholarship is for...... if it's a sport then I see his point by "quiting" it may reflect poorly to the people in controlling of the scholarship.

To texas: I'm debating that very point right now.

to LoD: He wants to live vicariously through me I believe. I've played all my life. I am 17. Probably a 9.

to Maj: it's an academic one. I had star student and I maintain a 4.0.
you want to see me disappear? well so do i. so do i.

quit. your dad will probably need the money, and if not, its still better to keep that stuff. Basketball is a sport. sports are games. games should be fun. unless you're playing for the NFL of something, if it's not fun, then you should stop. Oh and get a job because with the problems in America today, if you wait more, you might have a hard time finding one.
It's only a game, you don't need to be afaid of anyone, except for ONE person. Its not the teenager with a marker worth more than your car. Its not the SPPL player with about 35 BPS firing rate. Its the 40 year old guy lying in a corner, taking a nap before the game begins. His camo will probably be old, and he will most likely be toting a pump. He's been playing since before you were born, and if he mentions how much he didn't like when he had to play with oil based paintballs, make SURE he is on your team. This guy is a ghost.-Match99

If the money is not worth it to you that much, then quit. That's pretty miserable. Don't ever do something that doesn't make you happy, unless its a rough time and you have a family to support, then you do everything in your power to support them. Until then, do what makes you happiest.

Quit. You say you don't have time to have a life. You're only in high school once. Later on that $5000 won't mean much to you, but you'll regret not having any free time in high school.

Tell your dad you're not going to quit, but you're not going to accept the money.

Baseball is easier than having a real job, I'd take the cash. Sports are never, ever, ever as hard as a real job. Sports allow you to socialize and relax through physical work, a job you can't do that. I don't care how bad your coach/practice is, real job is worse.

I don't know about you, but I've never had a chance to relax at basketball practice. And there isn't really that much time to socialize either, I do that more in my free time with friends (which he wouldn't have with these 7-hour a day practices).
