Some of you might be asking yourselves...

What is a Ban-Du?

A Ban-Du is a head wrap made by Sam Hartley (goes by "shartley" in the paintball forum community) who runs Blackleaf Outfitters. It combines a bandanna or sweat band with the length of a du-rag to create this:

Review:

One word: Awesome.

I ordered the MARPAT version with the OD top. It looks great, feels great, is well constructed, and offers great production. The band has a built-in sweat absorbing material to keep the sweat out of your mask, lens, and eyes. The band comes down low enough and covers enough of your forehead that even when you use small masks like the VForce Grill I use, getting shot in the bare forehead isn't happening. The back comes down and covers the back of your neck. While taking pictures at the last scenario game, I got hit in the back of the neck and barely felt it because of the ban-du. Everything is well stitched and very nicely put together with no flaws. They also look pretty bad "butt". The band ties in the back and kind of looks like a ninja/karate kind of head thing. And ninjas > pirates.... Sneaky sneaky. You can order them in many many different camouflage patterns, prints, and solid colors allowing you to create your own custom combinations to match your gear. Just send him an email or put it in the Comments section of your order.

Best piece of headwear for paintball I've ever seen or used. Period. I won't play without one again.

Rating: 10/10, A+++, Great Product

I love my Ban-Du's...No LOVE them. They are great. Totally keep all sweat out of my face, and i sweat a lot. Most headbands i have to change out during the day cause they are too soaked to absorb more. I don't have that problem as much with the Ban-Du. I usually only change it out just cause the first is covered in so much paint already. :D

Shartley is great and easy to deal with. And will keep great communication with you the entire time if any problems arise. I had him specially make me two Ban-Du's with 8 foot Bans instead of the usual 4 feet. He had no problem doing it for me, and just charged me a little more for material.

I love these things. I bought 3 orignally, and gave one to a friend when he asked for one. I bought these two 8 ft ones, and I now have four, and they are the only headbands i wear.

Some pics of my 8 Ft ones.

I've got one of Shartley's Ban-Dus in woodland camo, and I'm getting another made in CADPAT once he gets some free time after his current batch. I love it, totally worth every penny!

Those are pretty awesome, but how would I go about playing in Pirate style with a Shartley Ban-Du? :P

I gotta thank "Jackson" for hooking the MM Team up with these. I've been holding off buying a headwrap for a long time for the simple reason that I couldn't find any that I liked. Black Outfitter Ban-du's not only work well soaking up sweat, but the look pretty cool too. I had our team Ban-dus embroidered with our team logo. I was surprised how quickly the order arrived - only 5 days from placing the order!

I know what I'm getting when this one has seen better days... ANOTHER ONE!
