You complaining about Florida is like me complaining about being stationed in Hawaii. I'm all about mountains too (Colorado Rockies baby), but I've learned to love the Tropical Paradise. At least you have more access to big games and such. All i've got is rec-ball.

I wouldn't want Hawaii myself I don't think. It seems okay, but it would get boring I think. Except then I would learn to surf (new hobbies :D)

Ike, I know, i was jk

Also, you have to remember I am in a student status.. Which kills it even more in FL.

Yep. Spent many a night at P-side. Or visiting Delta barracks. At least back then it was the female navy barracks.

Yep, that's it. The only time that place sucked was when red tide hit.

Awesome... The comment in parentheses makes me think about how much fun my rate will be... :\

Are you an operator or tech?

I can't remember who, but I could have sworn I heard someone mention getting orders (another CTT) to DDG 109.

I'm a Tech, the job may be for you, you may love it, it's just no my cup of tea. We haven't gotten a new CT in over a year now, so I don't know as far as somebody coming here. There's a first class who either just finished or is just finishing tech school right now who has orders to our ship, but other than that I haven't heard anything about new people coming in.

The Civil Air Patrol is not a branch of the military it can I suppose be "called" paramilitary but any group of people who organize themselves can be put into that category really.

You're right, it is not a branch. It is an official Auxiliary of the US Air Force, which IS a branch. It is "paramilitary" because its members are overseen by the military, wear military uniforms, and follow a military chain of command, despite civilian status. I might add that a VERY strong percentage of its members are active duty, retired, or former service members.

Rawr! (Caps :P)

So in more news, I am graduating one of my "C" schools with honors and a letter of appreciation from the C.O. No complaints there. Now just a few more schools to go before I get to that mythical thing they call the "fleet." (Sigh) I am pretty sure it is just a made up hollywood thing, like the moon landing. (fleet returnees are paid actors I believe)... A year on Corry Station does that to you.

Oh and my one year of being stuck in pensacola FL was yesterday.. Whoopee.. :\

Caution: Common sense is advised when reading above post.

Enjoy it while you're there bro. Before long you're going to miss PCola.
