About 2 weeks before I broke my foot I had an appointment with a nasal specialist. I found out I have a deviated septum as well as a polyp in my right sinus.

Last week I saw my family doctor for a few different things and found out I have high blood pressure.

Monday I went for blood work as ordered by the family Dr. and today I saw her for my pre-op exam....

Good news: I'm fit for surgery.
Bad news: I'm type 2 diabetic.
Good news: I should be able to control it without meds.
Bad news: Have to have more blood work done to check my cholesterol and confirm diabetes(not that it needs to be confirmed but they're taking blood out of so why not double check?). More fasting.... I hate fasting.

I need to lose some weight. Change my diet.

Yeah... I know this sort of thing can happen at any age, but I refuse to blame my lifestyle.

Now... Which way to the fountain of youth?

Ouch. Sorry to hear that man. I know a couple folks w/ type 2 & they're living life just fine - even know someone w/ type 1 & it's not slowing him down much. You know what you need to do, you just need to be disciplined about it. Good luck.

That's the American way! Refuse to take responsibility & instead look for a shortcut. Wait... you're Canadian. Good thing though, at least you have that amazing health care. :D

I'll tell ya Puz, getting old beats not getting to age. If I were you I'd have just hit the diabetes guy with the ban hammer and sent him packing! On the serious side though, if your anything like the person you portray yourself as here, you'll have this under control in no time.

Hey puz. I'm only 15 :D

In all seriousness though, get better. I know a friends dad who has diabetes and he doesn't let it slow him down. Stay strong.

I feel ya Puz. I get things long before someone is supposed to. Been type 2 diabeetus for 2 or 3 years now. Had diverticulitis 20 years before most people do. It sucks ass growing up and seeing your body fall apart where before you'd just bounce back from anything after a few days rest. :( If you find that fountain, be sure to email me GPS coordinates so i can do it too

i had a colonoscopy...i have NEVER felt more violated in my life then then....i honestly think if he beat me with a hammer after i wouldn't have felt as bad...i could just attribute the shame feeling to the beating. :( Instead i just walked around feeling violated the rest of the day while the wife laughed.

Don't dis the prostate exams. Nothing is more fun than having a doctor wear you like a hand puppet.

Actually they now do a blood test to see if there's a reason to shove a hand up your hiney.

It shouldn't be too hard to control it. After fasting my blood sugar was 8.3. My doctor said 7 was the high end of normal and some dietary changes should take care of it.

Colonoscopy.... haven't had one yet. I'm sure it's coming though. Having anyone see parts of you that shouldn't really be seen makes you feel weird. Having the scope shoved up my nose just didn't feel "right". I can just imagine a camera going in the other end....
