so... the long and short of it is this: i sold one of my markers i never used, so i decided to use that cash to get into pump play. my only delema is deciding on how big of a check to write getting into a type of play ive only played twice.

the two markers i was considering were an Sniper 2 ($120) and a Lapco Grey Ghost ($350). im not asking which is better, i know the answer, and i know the Ghost is worth the extra money. im wondering whether you think it would be prudent to test the waters with a smaller investment (possibly going sc or getting a different marker later), or just go [paint] balls out with the Ghost, which is what i would eventually buy anyway provided i enjoy stock class as much as i did before.

many thanks

Thats pretty much what a GG is.... But a Sniper and a GG are far to different, one OC the other SC.

that dosent actually bother me that much, what i liked about the GG was the exclusivity and the price compared to carters, sterlings and similarly equiped phantoms.

the question still remains, do you think i should spend that much right off the bat?

you will be impressed at any pump in that price range, but a cocker is not a bad choice either. You don't ahve to replace a cocker pump, you can add to it and make it incredible

If you want exclusively, get a Carter Mini Buzzard...

I personally recommend getting a Traccer/Maverick, and trying out pump class paintball first. They sell for around $50.

There is no need to jump head first in a style of play that you may not even like.

PUMP PLAY IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

Too few realize this, and when they are $300 down the hole with a nice phantom, they just go "Eh, me don't likes pump"

So... Try it with a smaller investment first, then try the actual marker you want to get, and then decide for yourself...

"Do I really want to play this style?"

go for the ghost! i only say this because you say you played pump before and enjoyed it and that's the marker you want to buy anyways. i own a sniper and love it, but you'll end up spending the extra $200+ on stuff to trick it out and make it different from everyone else's sniper(maybe it's just me. i've spent more money customizing my sniper than i'm willing to admit-even on a pump forum!) :dodgy: anyways, with the ghost you're getting a good, unique marker out of the box that you don't have to do much to. the phantom is nice too(i like mine), but kind of the same deal as the sniper. good luck!
