I understand the premise behind it, but that could be better portrayed as a mission given to troops by a commander (putting aside who bought what paint and who gets what).

Commander: "Joe, you and Ted are carrying out operation "Mule." Your mission is to carry these supplies to Bravo Company, who has secured Checkpoint Charlie... Op-Force is contending that position and Bravo is bingo on Ammo."

Thats about as good as I could imagine it... but that would not be a fun position to play, unless you are Abby the Pacifist. :P

First off, I want to say that this position is great (I will explain myself in a second). While I admit that the position is hard to fill, it will be worth while one you incorperate it into your stratagy. My teams policy was this... The first one to turn tail and run without an order to fall back would have to carry paint for all the players with only a pistol to defend himself during a practice game... and low and behold, a player on my team dared to defy my orders. So during a practice game, we loaded him up with 12 pods and 2 spare 68/4500 tanks and we went to the game. It was attack and defend. we were attacking a much larger force in an easily defendable town. We decided to hit and run a few times before going balls to the walls to gain a foothold in the town. Our front guys would run up, shoot one or two out, and run back to our group. They filled up on pods and went back. The repeated this until we had a numbers advantage, then we took the town with an absolute minimal loss of life. EVERYONE (execpt the person carrying 12 pods) had a full pack at the end.
Now put that into the prespective of a scenario... You take a town, building, fort, hill, ect... After the dirty work is done, your team has spare paint and air to defend against a counter attack! The "ammo runner" as wee call him, loves his job and we have made it a pemanent position on our team.

Again, great idea!

That sounds cool and all but wouldn't it be easier just to be like "Joey we need you to lug a bunch of ammo up to Fred, Bill, and Frank, they're at that big rock cluster and they're out of paint..."

I don't think we would have someone play as a supplier but there are people who carry extra for either themselves or if someone runs out. I like to carry 3 tanks into a game, 2 tanks (48oz each) are connected in a duel tank setup and the third (20oz or 24oz) is a spare for whoever needs it. Once I finish my pack, I will carry at least 2500 rounds into battle, I almost always have extra paint with me. I'll give 50 rounds here and there to players that are out or nearly out of paint. I typically carry at least 8 paintball grenades into a game. There have been games where some of the regular younger kids run out of paint or Co2 and just want a few grenades. They each get a couple, run back to the front lines, kill a squad, and come back for more grenades :) .

it would be ok but carry it around in a tank, not on his back. Also, what happens when he gets out?

That's right...total breakdown of armed forces. :) :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: :aah: !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, well everyone is burning this saying if he got shot you would have no ammo, except for the fact you could still carry your own pods, he would just carry more.

I quite often carry 3 to 4 cases of paint and several HPA tanks on me as a mule during the final battles in scenario games. Since I usually am not allowed to use my weapons platform I still want to be useful to my team. I don't have to worry about getting shot because I am not in range of the other side. I stay in the back and they usually come to me when there is a break in the fighting or they run out of paint. They dump empty pods near me and take full pods off my back. If one of my team gets shot out they bring another case of paint for me when they reinsert. I then load the empty pods for use. My record is about ten cases.

I really don't think that position would ever get filled if it were a real position. No one would want to carry around everybodies paint.

some of your opinions are good ones but look at it this way, Id much rather have 'ol frank runnin around with my squad loaded with HPA and extra Pods, than i would wasting my own ammo saving little jeffs behind just because he sucks.. So you see, this is a double edged sword, on one hand the mule is beneficial, and this could be a job for recruits and newbs to get into scenarioball, and on the other hand if you have to guard dead weight on your team then you might need that extra paint.

I'm pretty neutral to the idea, i know of guys who just have that nice personality and would love to help out fellow squadmen. To me it can go either way.

Irony rofl.

I like the idea. Might implement it, actually -- although I wouldn't do it without a gun of my own. This is what we call a "force multiplier" -- while the guy carrying all that extra ammo isn't going to be very useful on his own, he makes everybody around him more combat effective. Picture how much more you could shoot if you had a case of paint pre-loaded in pods that followed you around.

It's worth thinking about. And BTW, the preferred term 'round my parts is Shirpa. A great way to get out of a formation is to be "shirpa" for the day and carry everybody else's bags.
