ok i know this is dumb but what would happen if refs carried a paint pistol and if someone intentionally shot them or was cheating they could come light them up. it would strike fear in the heart of cheaters and hope not to be shot by a 350 fps gun. oh that would be so funny...

I thought refs were supposed to maintain order on the field. Imagine the chaos that would insue if a ref fired back at a player. that isnt really remaining calm and mature.

I said this in the other thread...The refs around here carry markers to help remind players who are hit to get off the field...If the player is playing on...the ref shoots their shins a few times...

Can't say I agree with refs shooting players under any circumstances.
Yeah, OK, it would be funny but that's not what a referee is there for and I wouldn't play a second time at a field where the guys in orange are shooting players.

I carry ones only if i am reffing a scenario or tourney, if you shoot a newby, it gives the sport a bad image and they dont come back.
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last nite, or that you got a ticket on the way there.. your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it.. Paintball 4 life..

I wouldn't play at a field if the refs carried markers, it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

i grab people's markers and point them at the ground while screaming in their ears if they play on.

.... or tackle them, depending on the circumstances.

(I'm a mean ref, but a pretty good one, if i'm allowed to toot my own horn.)

My idea of a Ref is one that maintains order and keeps players from cheating...through whatever means necessary. If a player starts poppin a ref on purpose because they find it funny, and the player wont leave the field after being asked to by the ref, I think the ref has every right to use a paintpistol on him.
Wretched is the sound of my voice.

Their cheating doesnt?

i would carry one at an outlaw game out side of our field(our guys are cool), but a scenario or anything like that is asking for trouble.

I carry a pistol only on the bigger groups that keeps them more in line. It's more of a intimidation factor than anything else I've never had to shoot a player yet.

Cheers,

The refs around here

where exactly do u play? jw cause i havnt seen many refs here carry markers on the field

otherwise i think the ref carryin a marker to "remind" ppl just makes it seem like they dont have control over whats happenin, and they should have control, maybe they just need better/more refs, not markers

I wish I could get a pistol I have almost had to tackle people because they wouldn't stop shooting at people after the game was over. The kid was shooting at my friends and my friends weren't shooting back.
