IE7. It's got a cleaner and faster interface than Firefox, and also doesn't have a major unpatched security hole that was discovered within hours of release and STILL isn't fixed. A responsible company might have made fixing it a top priority or pulled the download, but Mozilla is more interested in setting a previously nonexistent world record than being responsible.

Firefox 2, until Firefox 3 gets fixed. Won't touch IE7, that thing makes me more money then any virus.

(Computers to date this summer that I've 'fixed' simply by rolling IE7 back to IE6: 13)

Funny how I did a global rollout on 200 computers with no problems. Oh well. The usual culprit is crap antivirus that screw up installs, but a generally dirty system can occasionally do it too.

Corporate computers that people can't play with rarely begets problems-the whole 'can't play with' thing helps. IE7 just doesn't like to play nice with...well, damn near every antivirus known to man, which is why I keep IE6 or Firefox 2 around. Not to say IE6 doesn't have it's own problems, I'm just holding out until IE7 gets patched so it plays nice on personal computers.

Not gonna hold my breath for that, BTW, else I'd suffocate.

I wouldn't call IE or Firefox faster then the other, nor would I call one more secure then the other. I've found plenty of computers with Firefox that have been raped like a schoolgirl in a tentacle porn because people are stupid. Everybody blames Windows and IE, but in reality the should JUST STOP CLICKING YES ON POPUPS AND BROWSING SKETCHY WEBSITES AND AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH *Starts foaming at the mouth*.

Never had a problem with a PC with IE7 either, although if I install any updates on a PC I make sure to clean it up first. It's really hard to blame Microsoft, though when it's the antivirus that's the problem. The problem is that most antivirus programs screw with stuff that's not designed to be screwed with and don't whitelist digital signatures like they're supposed to, and thus run a very real risk of damaging your computer when the OS updates. Many of these companies have adopted very bad habits over the years.

I don't run an antivirus. Haven't for years. Never had a problem or a real reason to. I don't visit sites that carry potentially malicious files or use programs that run the risk of infections. If I were to recommend one, I'd recommend AVG or ClamWin, depending on what you need. AVG is more thorough, but ClamWin is less intrusive and doesn't slow down your system. ClamWin is good if you just want an on-demand scanner to scan files and emails.

Yeah, I have AVG installed on my computers, but I only pop it once a month, if that, and run it while I'm sleeping. I abhor paid antivirus programs in all their forms-I've only found one that isn't more intrusive then 95% of the problems it's supposed to stop, and that's Panda. And even Panda drinks resources. Not to mention the firewalls that come with those...guh. They give me nightmares. I can't count how many times I've had to respond to calls containing the words 'Well, we just bought/updated Norton' with 'Well, there's your problem!'

Still, I've found, on average, that Firefox plays better with antivirus programs, and having an antivirus is so ingrained into the average (l)user's habits that it's pretty much effectively better. On a totally empirical comparison, they might be even, but it all comes down to circumstance.

EDIT: Milkman, might want to read the rules again. Both talking about software piracy and making duplicate accounts are against the rules. Also, dupe accounts are a bannable offense, so bye.
