As the title says, I need a quote for my senior write up in the yearbook.

I wanted to use this poem by Robert Frost, but it is way too long.

Quote

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The other thing is that I have changed this poem around to fit my personality. I say "screw both trails and blaze your own", but I need to include the situation from the poem for it to make sense. I don't know what to do. If anyone has any good quotes, please share. But I don't like stealing other peoples quotes. It just ruins the point.

i find this rather ironic. You want to use the robert frost poem, but want to change it around your personality of"screw bot trails and blaze your own" when you could just make your own poem.

Well, I wanted to incorporate the Robert Frost poem, or at least the important part of it and then put my own saying in there after it. It is too long though.

You say you want to use the "Important part", the important part is taking the path less traveled....which is the last bit, and what the whole poem leads up to. Which in turn makes the whole thing important....Just sayin

But there are some good quote websites around, check out great-quotes.com or other similar sites.

Or, "I follow Becc everywhere."

or, "Liz is my Hero, though she hates me." :P

"When in doubt, C-4."

"I reject your reality and substitute my own." Particularly appropriate for high school.

or if you need one that parallels yours: "To boldly go where no man has gone before."

"A smile will get you pretty far, but a smile and a gun will get you farther." Al Capone

...oh fine. Google "quotes: path less travelled"

"Only those who dare to fail greatly can acheive greatly" JFK

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

or

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I turned to start my own path
And that has made all the difference."

This is what I wrote for mine. Except they changed "bastards" to "bums", even after I told them to make it "suckers".

"This isn't a game; it's a fight. Knuckles bare, fists clenched white, all weapons approved, and the bastards of the world are waiting in the shadows with broken bottles and big grins. And this fight is fought everyday. On long highways, dirty couches and floors, rock hard dirt fields and shaking planes. In foreign lands, lost, hated, broke. It's the battle to prove to the world that your small part, your pinprick slice of existence, matters. That even if the sun explodes tomorrow and scatters us screaming into the void, we go smiling because we had faith in ourselves, faith to gather a tribe and try to make our own reality. Nobody gives you anything until you make them understand. In everything you do, make them understand."

And no, I didn't write it. I'm pretty sure it's Rich Telford. Though I changed the end to make it more general, than just talking about paintball.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

Ezekiel 25:17 "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you"

extra points for getting the reference, but not many as it is easy.

There were a lot of good quotes but I had to find one by the end of school today. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Some of them made me laugh my ass off.
I went with this one.

Quote

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I was in school and googled "Senior Yearbook quotes" and this was the very first one that showed up. It perfectly fits what I was trying to say. It must have been fate that made it the first quote to appear.

I appreciate all of the thought and effort put into helping me. I was in a crunch last night and figured I should start a thread asking for some help. I was hoping to have more posts by the time I checked it in the morning. Not after I got home from school.
