Did anyone post a review of this mic:

http://www.ixradio.c...ic_XTM880D4.htm

I'm looking at getting one and wanted to hear how it works.

I haven't seen any reviews on it yet, since it is a newer model.

I believe, however, that it may be the solution for people with larger necks.

IXRadio told me it is supposed to fit necks from 17-21"

I could do one, I just got mine in the mail and have been toying with it.

Initial thoughts:
Thus far I am very impressed. It does weigh significantly more than the previous model. But the construction feels solid. And I love the 3.5 plug on the back! everything with this one is modular so you could have one mic and have different ends to adapt it to whatever radio you want to use at the time. There is a ptt/vox switch on the in line control box along with volume and the ptt button. If you choose it when you buy it, you will also have a remote ptt button which attaches to the in line control box. I have a 14" neck and it, and the older models work just fine on me. Clarity thus far seems good, I haven't directly compared it to the XTM85R yet though. The only complaint thus far is that the inline control unit seems a bit bulky. I signed up on this site only to contribute as I found this thread quite helpful when I ordered my IXradio throatmics.

Thank you so much for the review. I almost bought the commando (firefox)... I saw this and changed my mind.

WHOA MAN OH MAN

this is a hella review,

imma be a sniper, and my team consists of 6 others. 2 are practicly inactive with the team, but the other 4 are like "whoa! we NEED these!" so we are going to purchase 5 in a bulk shipment...i have a 14" neck (wow thats weird cuz im on the blobby side), the biggest neck i would think that our big player has would be 17ish inches, and suprisingly I'm the thinest neck!

so i was wondering: -------------------------------------------------->
For a sniper  , L. Rifleman :ninja: , Commander  , and 2 M. Rifleman  , is this mic going to work for all of us? or do i need to get a seperate one for the commander or sniper? (anything less than a "Yes, this mic works for all those postions, and every other position known to man!" is going to be ignored based on these reviews!!!)
and what radio should i use, iheard the cobra reviews and wanted to know what the price is for all of this together... no offence on your great review, but you were kinda shaky on how much the best stuff and the extras costed you...

Ps. Your my hero

SOLUTION TO MUFFLED PROBLEM!!
I received my IXRadio Throat mic today, and when I tried it on it was very muffled. Me and a friend both ordered one and when we tried them with each other we could not understand a thing we said. I said "right" he asked me if I said "left". It was that bad. I tried looking in the forums and noticed some people also having the same problem, some people even said that this is how throat mics were supposed to sound due to their nature. However, I decided to take apart the transponder and noticed that the vibrating disk was not completely pressing up against the plastic that makes contact with your skin. Ixradio uses those black earphone cushion squishy covers to create the pressure for the transponder disk. So I took his squishy cover and added to mine for extra pressure on the transponder and lo and behold it works awesome. It sounded like we were actually talking into the microphone, I even added an extra third one laying around. So to sum it up. IF YOU ARE HAVING A MUFFLED THROAT MIC XTM85R THAN OPEN UP THE TRANSPONDER AND ADD MORE SQUISHY EAR COVERS AND YOUR THROAT MIC WILL WORK LIKE A CHARM. IN ME AND MY FRIENDS WORDS "OMG"

Not yet, but I can see that that is going to be the next throte mic that I buy. It looks like the one I got already, and then improved one more step.

Lovin it!!

And the price is Fantastic. Their shipping is also only like 5$ to the US.
