Which is more evil? The man who murders murderers, or the man who incarcerates that man?

Cast your vote, and give a reason.

I say the man who incarcerates that man, because he is serving justice blindly. In my mind, thats either very dumb or very evil.

Everything has to be scenario based. We will take the following scenarios:

1) Gang Member A kills two innocent people in a carjacking and escapes. The next day, he "disrespects" Gang Member B, who kills him. Gang Member B, who also has a lengthy criminal record, is apprehended, tried, and convicted for the murder of Gang Member A. I call this "Two Birds with One Stone". An evil person is taken off the streets, at no expense to the State, while the perp does time for the crime.

2) Person A is carjacked, and his companion killed. Person A, consumed with rage, sets out for revenge. He corners Gang Member C, and shoots him. Person A is brought before the court on Murder charges. I am much more...open to interpretation, shall we say, in this scenario.

Ironically enough, this poll continues to reinforce my opinion that polls are fundamentally flawed. Not to jack the thread, just my two cents.

~ Believe me, dear Sir: there is not in the American states a man who more cordially loves a union with his country than I do. But, by the God that made me, I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as the United States Congress proposes; and in this, I think I speak the sentiments of America. ~ Thomas Jefferson (modernized)

I left out any specifics when it came to the murder, because it may have given the murderer an "unfair advantage" in the debate. Especially since different people have different thoughts of when someone "deserves" to die.

I left it vague also, because murder is still the ending of a life, and some people believe that murder is murder no matter the circumstances.

I wanted all options open.

As for T-Freak, I mean like Vigilante justice. Executioners are exempt, because its their job. It would be like convicting a soldier for murder.

Someone who murders murderers is just perpetuating the cycle of murder.

There's a difference between murdering someone and killing someone. I have no problem killing a murderer if they are endangering myself or my family at the time you are being attacked. That's defense. And I would want to kill them even if escaping alive and unharmed without actually killing them was an option. Of course, if someone did kill/rape/etc. someone in my family, I probably would hunt them down and murder them anyway...not that it's right, and I would expect to be tried, but I'm a very vengeful person.
