I don't know if anyone else has noticed but a huge number of popular/quality bands are reforming. Every other week there's news of another stellar band reforming, or at least one that was once very popular. Basically this makes me very very happy.

Here's the list of bands reforming this year:
Crowded House,
Rage Against The Machine,
Van Halen,
James,
The Jesus And Mary Chain,
Alice In Chains,
Dinosaur Jnr.,
All Saints,
Spice Girls,
Take That,
Boyzone (ugh),
My Bloody Valentine,
Smashing Pumpkins,
The Sugarcubes,
East 17,
INXS,
The Eagles,
The Police,
Led Zeppelin,
The Sex Pistols,
Genesis,
The Who,
and Queen.

Apart from some pop bands that used to be popular, this list is incredibly exciting for me. While a couple of these are another tour, some are back for much longer; for example, The Who, The Eagles and Queen are all releasing new albums along with many of the others.
This is the best news all year. I'm going to get as many tickets as possible for all this. It's a hell of a year for music

No but I felt like I should include them. Makes the list longer.
But Queen, Genesis, The Who, The Eagles, Van Halen, The Sex Pistols, The Police! yay!

The Who's done nicely though, haven't they.

Plus that new Queen album should be interesting, and it's another chance to go see one of the best bands of all time play.

Just not gonna be the same without Freddy Mercury, though. :(

I agree.

How many of those bands are coming back with ALL the original members, though?

I really doubt that the sex pistols are getting back to geather...

edit: especially on account of the fact that sid is dead.

True, he will be missed, he was a legend. But AC DC lost their lead singer Bon Scott but continued to be one of the best bands of all time, and they're still going now.
Then again Mercury was the main songwriter.... I just hope they can produce more quality songs.

As for bands reforming with their original members, none of the classics are reforming with all their members. Someone mentioned that Sid from the Sex Pistols is dead; well he'll be the missing member. Remember that The Sex Pistols have reformed twice since 1979 without him, and they're doing it again.

I dunno about some of the other bands though.

True, but AC/DC is full of rock icons. EVERYBODY knows Angus Young. On the other hand, I'm a Queen fan, but I can't remember the names of any of the other band members (Recognize the guitarist's sound, though). And, yeah, Freddy was the main writer.

Not saying that new-Queen is going to be bad or anything, it's just not going to be the same.

Also, Rage getting back together? Rocksome!

You don't recognise the name of Brian May? :)

Some people put his talents up there with Page or Hendrix. Maybe a bit extreme, but he is a rock legend.
