I'm thinking maybe a Savage 10FP or Remi 700 SPS in .308 or possibly .300 Win Mag. And as for the handgun, a 1911 of some description, or possibly an XD variant. Probably 1911, I know a LOT about them. Depends on what deals I can get. And I plan to reload for that rifle, so that's another hundred at least.

Besides, I think the AK would make everyone else in the house poo themselves and go into seizures. Then again . . .

I came so so very close to purchasing a Mosin Nagant or whatever its called last night. 100 bucks and it was mine. Then the gun store had 440 rds in a sealed can for 100 bucks... I was really tempted.. but I need to be smarter with my money -_-

No you don't. Where else are you going to get a nigh indestructible, accurate bolt action in a powerful caliber (approx. .30-06) for $100 a rifle and $0.20 a round? And they will only appreciate in value. It's a smart buy.

I'd rather have a U/O, just because I'm used to my semi. The single barrel would probably be less confusing with both eyes open, pointing at a moving target. They are much more common at my skeet field than side by sides.

If I were to go double barrel, I'd prefer O/U.

I prefer pump or semi though, but that's because I want any firearm of mine to be useful for any scenario when possible.

Nice shotty, agent. For trap/skeet, I would only go O/U, as well. For CAS or other uses, S/S is fine, but for home defense or the like, I'm going semi/pump or pump- either my Benelli or Remington, thank you.

BTW, I think my local dealer has a nice restored/vintage M-N (1891/30 w sniper bolt handle) for me on the way. All I have to do is get that old Russian scope I have repaired, and I'll have the makings of a fine sniper. Can't wait to see if it's as good as it seems.

Call me weird, but I do a lot better with a s/s than an O&U

Agreed, and that's why I almost bought one, but I have been blowing money left and right lately and it's been hitting me hard when I needed it for stuff... so I'm putting it off for a bit but I will surely pick one up sometime soon.

Alright!

In about two weeks, I will be participating in my Eagle Scout ceremony.

As a gift, my dad is letting me get my very own pistol, which completely stokes the hell out of me.

The problem is, I really can't decide on one.
That's where y'all come in.

I'm looking for something chambered at .40 or .45 and within the $500-700 price range.

Options?

BTW, used is fine.

I recommend the XD or a 1911. Springfield, Sig, Taurus, and a few others all make 1911s in the price range you listed. Kimbers are really nice, but outside your price range.
