from Catshack:

An announcement like this in the paintball industry is shocking, sad and hits home for too many people. Angel Paintball has closed down! From humble beginnings Angel rose to the top of the industry and redefined what a tournament level paintball marker was.
The paragraphs below are from Jay at Angel.

Quote

“I have learned that Angel Sports is ceasing operations. I don’t know all the details, not sure it really matters. They will make announcements concerning this shortly. I have been assured by the UK office that parts will be available to service the markers. The details of this arrangement should become clear in the near future, and should be announced by the UK office this week. For the near future, both myself and Bob at Fix My Angel (www.fixmyangel.com) have parts in stock in the US for your customers.

I have some items in stock personally, and will be willing to honor your dealer pricing (or give you an even better deal) where I can on those items. Anyone looking for accessories, or especially clothing, please contact me asap and we’ll see what we can work out. Once these items are gone, I am not sure I can get more.

Because I feel an obligation to the players, teams, and dealers I have worked with, I will continue to monitor and use the jay@angelsports.com email. I have been assured that it will work for some time. If that turns out not to be the case, I have set up a personal email account, pballjay@gmail.com that I will begin to monitor if the angelsports.com email fails or ceases to exist. I will continue to maintain and monitor my mobile number, so that any of you that wish to reach me will be able to do so.

Jay

Angel Paintball Sports”

I am personally saddened as the paintball industry seems to be losing more and more companies due to economic hardships here in the states and abroad. Unfortunately another giant in the industry has become just another statistic. It is not something that was seen by the general player or many of us in the media.

R.I.P. Angel Paintball

I fear that Angel won't be the last to go before this is all over.

I didn't see this one coming just yet, but I guess that's the warning: nobody is truly "safe" in this industry.

I think that there are companies that could certainly be considered safer than others....companies like Kingman & Tippman that make more of the mid/low price range gear will stay strong. Its the companies who depend on low volume/high price items that will find themselves in trouble.
Personally, Im not sorry to see some of them go - never saw the need for a 1000 dollar marker at all....and what with tthe econmy in the crapper, players are going to have to decide if all the bells & whistles are really worth it....especially with the tourney scene being a sad mockery of its prime.
The strength of the industry is and always has been the average recreational players....as long as there are folks who enjoy playing paintball with their friends, there will always be a strong market for more modestly priced gear.

I've never owned an angel, and I never had any plans to, but I'm still sorry to see them go.

I'm more worried about the midrange market, where you get some performance value.

I honestly thought angel shut down 4 years ago, so for me to say Im sad to see them go wouldnt be true since I thought they were gone.

honestly this announcement is late, angel really hasn't done much for a long time, Their markers were being totally outclassed my other companies rival price points, and hell. even markers under the price point angel had set they were barely considered contending markers.
news about angel has slowed down dramatically, And I have not seen a 2007+ angel on the paintball field iv well over 2 years.
(i'v seen two my entire life actually on field, a old angel LCD, and a 06)

sad.
but i kinda half expected it.

I've kind of figured since the Angel Eyes fiasco that they weren't far from the grave.
My second gun (first electro) was an Angel LED. Once I got it tuned in, that thing was amazing.

But I don't really see any other companies following them. Maybe Dangerous Power or Alien, depending on how their new marker sells.
Dye, Eclipse, Bob Long... then'll be around forever. Or at least until Bob decides he's tired of it.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

I was excited about the design as well. That was until I tried a pair on at Living Legends.

Not nearly as good as they were made out to be.

I was not extremely impressed with them at dday, though I had very little time with the goggles as there was a line.

Heard a rumor that Tippman may be buying whats left of Angel....cant confirm yet, but would be an interesting combo if it actually worked.
