Painting the barrel? Keeping paint out

there's a couple ways to do it, depending on the barrel.
If there's no porting, just stick a cork in the exit end & wrap tape over the the threads on the back end.
Ported barrels are trickier - what I have done in the past is to roll up a piece of fairly thick paper & slide it in the barrel, then unwind it untill its pressing tightly to the inside surface of the barrel. You do have to take care when spraying that you dont get the paint nozzle to close - air pressure can push the paper in, allowing paint to enter the barrel - but it can be done. Light, even spray coats is the key...

also those foam rollers that curl women's hair work well to plug the ends of the barrels up. I get them cheap at a dollar store...
