Game Synopsis.
Welcome to a generation born into a zombie apocalypse. Only few of the old timers remember when life was life and death was death. 30 years ago, the world was forever changed into a vast wasteland of disease when a virus struck the world at such an alarming rate that no one could have prepared for it. Some say it was a rare form of rabies mixed with mad cow disease, but no one really knows for sure. It didn’t take long for proposed cures to be obsolete as the virus began mutating each time it jumped to the next victim.

Symptoms included bloodshot and blackened eyes, foaming of the mouth, respiratory blockage, vomiting, high fever, delusions, and violent behavior. Most notable is a tumor-like lump that begins to form on the neocortex and then begins to spread to other parts of the brain. The virus spreads through blood transfer contact and immediately starts to attack the nervous system. Fever and vomiting begin within 24 hours, followed by erratic behavior. Within 3 days the virus completely envelops the entire brain.

Now, 30 years later, the struggle to survive is even greater. Food and supplies are all but gone. The undead are everywhere. You can’t stay in one place for too long or they’ll find you, so you have to keep moving, as well as avoiding gangs of survivors who will kill, steal, and enslave…or worse. It is now up to you. Will you help rebuild civilization, or side with those who attempt to destroy it? Either way, you’ll have to avoid being eaten.

Realms Of Ruin is situated on 80 acres of some of the best paintball terrain in the Midwest. Their claim to fame is the creek, which winds its way throughout the park with a network of bridges that connect many of the fields together. A game of "capture the flag" becomes extremely intense when one must cross a bridge to reach the opponent’s flag. This special format is called "Cross-Creek."

Play on 11 exciting fields with names like Fury, Monk's Castle, Echo, Fear, Purgatory, Wrath, Ocularis Infernum, The Island, Amityville, Hobb’s End, and No Man’s Land. The fields have huge trees, thick brush, networks of connecting sand bunkers, trenches, bridges, forts, and hills.

Realms has a mostly sandy soil base, which means NO MUD! So when the torrential rains strike, it’s "game on" 15 minutes later. The fields drain that quickly!

There's plenty of room for camping, tents, or campers. There is no running water or electricity, but they do provide port-a-potties. Campfires are allowed, you can buy firewood on the way to the field at one of the gas stations in town or forage for it on the property. Just be careful with fires if the weather has been dry.

There’s a town nearby, Braidwood, Illinois, with a grocery store, McDonald’s, Ace Hardware, a burger joint, and even a Dairy Queen.

There’s a motel in town if you don’t feel like camping. The Braidwood Motel, 120 North Washington Street, Braidwood, IL, (815) 458-2321
