So... I never really got into Spec ops too much on the forum side. Their "glory days" were when I was too young to really know what a forum was, but I enjoyed the gear and patronized their store. Now that I'm a bit older and interested in getting back into paintballing, I'm trying to also get into a paintballing community. Especially since paintball has somewhat died. So my question is, where are all the paintballers? Are there active painball communities in Utah that I can play with? And where do people post at on this forum? It seems like most places haven't been touched since the "glory days" in here. It makes me sad to think that this once great forum is now the empty shell of something that once was. SO. Tell me, is it dead? Or does paintball, and this forum community live!!?

Thank You

I see... Well, is there an alarm to go off any time... ever? Possibly that coincides with the "re-birth" of spec ops?

We need to make a sticky about this...lol I swear half the forum activity these days is people coming back and asking about the forum (Sorry for the non-helpful answer but I just finished a midterm-filled week and I should be asleep).

That's pretty funny. At least there is some activity though! It may be hard to get a sticky though as the moderators are nappings ;)

I was just wondering what the heck is going on, mostly because I want to play some freakin' awesome paintball games! But also, just because I love the sport and want to see it grow back up to where it used to be, and higher. Word on the street is that paintballing as an industry went from something like 5mil to 2mil. SAD day. I believe there is something that each of us paintballers can do to fix that problem.

What needs to happen is the company needs to get behind the forum and really start promoting themselves.
I hope the plan on their end is to hit with an ad campaing in the spring and hopefully attend some events thus getting people hyped about this place.
The want for this to be hot and heavy is their it just needs to be ignited.

I totally agree. What each of us can do is one thing, but Spec Ops can do much, much more. They could start with giving this place a face lift and getting a link on their homepage. Not too long ago I actually read through all 69 pages of suggestions of products for Spec Ops to produce. What did I get from it? That there are (or were) a ton of very brand loyal and even fanatic Spec Ops customers. It seems to me that when the forums are hot, business is good. Of course it's much more than that, but what a great way to keep tabs on your "fan base" aka customers. Whatever they did to capture the hyperactive, over obsessive 12 year olds with rich parents segment is worth doing again in my opinion.

Well, the current SO is the third incarnation of SO. The SO you know from the "Glory Days" is dead and gone.

As a company you are correct and sadly after the first company left so did alot of the excitement about the company. Now Im found of all the former owners but it seems after the last change of hands the forum was a distant thought until the (then) current owner got his business feet set.

Frankly Ive always thought of the owners of the company (whoever the were) were only second to what, at the time, was the main heart of this forum and that was the member base. Now its been said to death that most have moved on, but lets not forget that some just quit on this place after the last change. Yes mostly because some members took sides in the drama of old vs new and rigth or wrong I wont say but when some left them(new owners) the also left us (forum members) and that is what has truely killed the "glory days".

Given what an internet society is and how untangible it is this isnt really a surprise but considering the forgetfull nature of internet society Im sure if/when the next group enters the 'glory days' can return.

I didn't realize that this was the THIRD passing of hands. How interesting. I also understand that this is just the beginning of their third try. So maybe it's just time to be patient and see what happens. It's interesting that the success of woodsball as a whole seems to be led by Spec Ops and their success. I just hope that they will get back to their roots and open a facility (or just a storefront) in Utah... It makes me so sad that I can't go to all the events that they are out showing all their new gear off at.

As to the community returning to the forum... lets just hope that this new rebirth will usher in a new crowd and breath some new life into these forums so that half the new posts aren't sad reminiscing people like me wondering where the heck everyone went!

Well, yeah. Like cdrink20 said, it should be stickied. And I have lots of questions. But what I want to know most of all is how we can do ourselves, and the game of paintball the biggest favor ever and promote it enough that people will play, and the forum community will be somewhat more that just "in existence." Besides bringing our friends, and making it a prioritized hobby in our own lives, is there more that a paintball loving do gooder can do?

Exactly what I thought.

As to the OP: If the company becomes an exciting innovator in the paintball industry again, and this forum is important to the owners, then this forum will see new life.

But frankly, it is hard to get excited about all the new goodies I could get to play paintball with when I can hardly afford to pay my electric bill. No doubt many members feel the same. As far as new gear goes.....that ain't gonna happen. I'll be lucky to scrape together enough cash for paint and air to play for a day.
