lets say that it is pouring rain. what would you suggest i bring. ive never played in the rain before
also, how would i prevent my gun from getting ruined (98 custom)?

Paintball 101

Welcome students to the course Paintball and Rain please take your seats and I will begin...

First rule of thumb when playing in the rain is to remeber paintballs hate it. Not only do they not like rain but cold and rain are possibly the bain of their existence. When dealing with the 2 please make sure to put your paintballs in a dry place out of the harm of rain. Make sure the surface it lies in is dry and will remain dry through out the day.

Second rule: know your gun, if you shoot a low to mid end electro know that these guns have little to know protection to getting wet especially depending on the design of the gun i.e dual stack, or closed spool valve. Take great precaution in protecting all electric guns but especially the ones that may not have water tight grip frames. A poncho over the gun is always a good quick solution.
If you shoot a Mech (no electronics) such as a Custom 98 you will be happy to know that these guns are extreemly rugged and can take the rain with little to no modification. In the case of the 98 you can drop it in a river pick it up change out the paintballs and keep firing it with no trouble.

That's all the time today class but remember Monday is quiz day on your sylabus and also our first project titled "Why I will never shoot an Angel" is due on the 30th of this month

Good day

Schnips,
Do what Steeelman said and:

I would suggest using your largest diameter barrel because paintballs swell when it is wet. Also, if your barrel has porting/holes put some tape over them. Try to keep your barrel pointed down when just walking around so that rain doesn't fall into the bore.

Fogging is likely to be a problem. Make sure your goggles have a visor to keep rain from falling into the top vents. Tighten your goggle strap enough to keep moisture out. I wear my strap high on my head so it pulls my mask tight under my eyes and my breath does not creep into my mask.

Store your paintballs in a watertight cooler.

Wear water repellent boots.

Bring a couple of old towels and dry your marker and pods from time to time. Use a towel to sit on in the car on the way home. You're going to be a mess.

Good luck and have fun!

Ions fall in that mid level electro but are Spool valve so they are closed for the most part from rain. Tape your porting and put a poncho over your gun you'll be cool.

Official Pump Owner 79
If the person on the other end of your gun does not walk away from the game eagerly anticipating the next game because of your actions,
you have failed as a paintballer. Put this in your sig to help spread the word.
